What I Ate Wednesday: Healthy Thai Sesame Patties

Why hey there all you party people!

It’s Wednesday, which means another What I Ate Wednesday post! I’ve got some great eats to show you guys as well as a tasty recipe that’s delicious and packed full of protein and flavor!

Healthy Protein Packed Thai Sesame Patties!

But first, my workout!

I had a great workout today thanks to my heart rate monitor. I usually am too lazy to put it on, but my workout is always fantastically sweaty when I do! I’m not sure why, but the built-in monitors on most machines don’t pick up my heart rate and it’s irritating constantly trying to get a proper reading. My heart rate monitor automatically transmits my numbers to the screen of the cardio machines and helps motivate myself to get my heart pumpin’ and not just go through the motions!

My workout consisted of 30 hard minutes on the elliptical, 10 minutes on the bike, and lots of abs! Has anyone tried a Captain’s Chair before? The one at my gym is amped up with a bosu ball back and is so hard. I definitely felt the burn!

IMG_3106Now, to the food!

Breakfast: oats on oats on oats!

DSC_1211Lunch: thai food with Kyle! We split a green papaya salad and beef pad thai.

Also, can someone please tell me why guys always get the best eyes? Boys suck. Boo.

IMG_3108 IMG_3109Dinner: I whipped up those tasty thai sesame patties I mentioned before for dinner and ate them with some sautéed green beans! They have a great asian flavor and are delicious dipped in thai sweet chile sauce.

Not only do they taste pretty darn good, they’re good for ya! With 30g of lean protein per serving, they make for a filling and drool-worthy lunch or dinner. Just add some brown rice and veggies and you have yourself a power meal! I can’t wait for leftovers tomorrow!

If you’d be so kind to pin this picture below on pinterest, I’d love you five-ever (that’s more than forever!)

Healthy Thai Sesame Patties

The rest of the evening was spent on a long beach walk with Kyle. We talked about everything, from body dysmorphia in both men and women to the size of blue whales and what we would do if a T-Rex attacked us. We obviously make a very deep and reflecting couple. Oh, and a venti pumpkin spice latte was involved!

Time to hit the hay!

Looks like you two had an amazing day! Your conversation topics sound hilarious, but I also don’t wanna know what other people would say when they overhear Jay and I chatting.

Thanks for the great recipe: I love thai flavours and that sounds like the thing to make to accompany my sweet potato or butternut squash. Yum!

YES to the Venti PSL. Can your pictures be any more perfect?! I was just talking to one of my guy friends recently about Thai food.. He said it’s his favorite and I’ve never tried it. I think we’re going this week so if I like it, I’ll definitely be making these!

Boys do get the best eyes, and usually the best eyelashes, too! Not fair in the least. The sesame patties sound so tasty. I’m a veggie but I bet I could adjust them. Yum, putting them on my list! Have a great day, Christine!

Aw you too are so cute!!
Looks like you had a great time together! So jealous you guys have got pumpkin spice lattes now!! Still waiting here in the UK..can’t be too much longer, a couple more weeks I think!
The captain’s chair is a killer at the gym!! Great ab workout though!
Hope you have a great week :)

You are on a ROLL with these recipes. I was looking for a recipe for dinner tonight…and I may have just found it!

In other news, I need to email you about the look/feel of your blog. I think you switched from wordpress to self-hosting and I was hoping you could give me some tips for how to do it. I also wanted to know what you use for your recipe cards. I am just so impressed with how far you blog has come in such a short amount of time :-)

You and Kyle are SO cute. And your thai food looks so good. As in, like, I want to crawl through my computer screen good. And that’s not even saying anything about your patties…I really just want you to move to Houston and cook for me everyday. Please? Pretty please? With a cherry on top? 😉

    • says

D’awww thanks :D. I wish you could crawl through my screen to see me. Only that would be like that scary movie with the girl crawling through the tv from the well. You know what I’m talking about? Make it 2 cherries and you got yourself a deal!! 😉

I am jealous of Kyle’s eyes, too. I swear guys do get the best looking eyes! I hate having “poop brown” ones. So boring. Boo.

Is Kyle a nurse because he looooks like he’s wearing scrubs or is it the style of shirt (then, I apologize. don’t shun me :-P)?

Oh my these sesame sound good! Actually all of your eats sound really good! I went to a Thai restaurant last night with my parents and we all loved it. I saw a green papaya salad on the menu and kind of wanted to try it but ended up with tofu stir fry.

You two are seriously the cutest couple ever! And yes, very deep and reflecting, too! All your food looks soooo good. I want some pad thai so bad now! I love captain’s chairs but they hurt. I feel like the ones with the bosu ball are better on your back.

Thank you so much for this recipe Christine! I have some left over ground turkey and was afraid that I wouldn’t have any use for it :) These look perfect!

Like you even had to ask, I immediately pinned that shizzzz and if I ate meat I would be making it immediately! Asian flavors are highly ranked according to my taste buds and these look amazing!
Also amazing is that adorable lunch date.
The most amazing are those pictures of you and your love. Hands down most beautiful couple in the world and IDK if the world is ready for whatever gorgeous offspring you guys create (potentially!).

The last pic of you too is adorable! And yes, captain’s chairs are awful (in a good way …)
Guys have amazing eyes, you are correct: my kid brother’s eyelashes are so long they make shadows on his cheeks. Like all the time. Gah!

  13. says

Too adorable and I love your conversation topics! I’m also quite excited that pumpkin is back. It may be a bit early, then again, it’s never too early

I’m gushing over you & Kyle right now! How long have you two been together (sorry I’m a bit new to your fantastic blog; I’m still getting updated.) I just pinned your recipe. It looks so good! For a few months I’ve been stuck in this rut of choosing the same meals over and over again. I’m afraid to try new recipes for some reason. Silly me… but you’ve given me inspiration. Thank you so much beautiful. :)

Aww thanks Julia :D. We’ve been together for almost 3 years now, but have known each other for longer. I have the same problem of getting into a habit of eating the exact same things! Luckily, Apple of My Eye forces me to be more creative so I can share yummy things with you guys ;). So glad I could help! <3

      Hi there!
I’m sure they could be. I would try heating the oven to 400 degrees and baking for 15-20 minutes. Keep an eye on them when they’re cooking though just to be safe :). You might also want to try coating them with some olive oil cooking spray to keep them moist since they’re made from lean protein and don’t have too much fat on them!

I made this last night and added a diced jalapeño to it and must say it helped add a little zing of spice to it-so delicious! Thanks for a keeper recipe!

Hi Christine! Stumbled upon this recipe via Pinterest and made it yesterday. So good! I added coriander because it was screaming “use me before I die” in my fridge and it gave it extra aroma. Also, was wondering if you’re on Instagram, because I posted a photo and would love to give you credit!
