First Self Hosted WIAW!

Hey everyone, happy Wednesday! I look forward to it every week since I always find at least a couple new awesome blogs to stalk follow! I’m happy to announce that this is my first What I Ate Wednesday as a self hosted blogger! Thanks as always to Jenn for hosting!

Before I get into the food though, HOW CUTE IS THIS SKIRT? $18 at TJ Maxx. Boom. I’m absolutely in love with it and it makes me feel like a princess when I move. I’m 8, I know.

Breakfast: Overnight oats prepared with the cast of characters you see below! Before eating, I topped mine with walnuts, both normal and golden raisins, and some PB Crave in Cookie Nookie! To be honest, I never got the big fuss about overnight oats. For some reason, they were delicious this time around, though. Guess my proportions were off before. Sorry for the bad pic!

Lunch: Lunch was with the boyfriend at a Thai restaurant. I got a stir fry with mushrooms, baby corn (d’aww), celery, chicken, onions, and a delicious sauce. A Thai Tea was necessary, of course. I don’t understand why I pay $3 for one every time I see it at a restaurant when I can make it better at home for basically free. DON’T JUDGE ME, OKAY?

Dinner: Today’s dinner came along really fast and with minimal mess. Win! I cooked a sweet potato and topped it with some Earth Balance and fresh basil, roasted some asparagus, and caramelized half an onion I had lying around. The best part of the meal was the pork chops. I just seasoned them with pepper and Lawrey’s garlic salt and pan fried them So simple, yet so delicious!

Dessert was in the form of a latte and Norwegian chocolate. Honestly, people need to know about how amazing the chocolate in Norway is. The Swiss get all the credit!

What was the best thing you ate today?

Want to try some Norwegian chocolate? (say yes or I eat your first born child)

xoxo Christine

Your skirt is super cute and looks really comfy! I love love love your blog design!! Did you design the layout? And being self hosted is so exciting! I hope to do that someday, but first I’d like to try designing a layout for it on WordPress. Oh and your dinner looks perfect. I love pork chops :)

Thank girl! I really like it too, it turned out better than I expected :). I did design the layout of it! When you go self hosted they have a lot of options for the basic form of the blog and then you can customize it to your heart’s content. If you ever need anyone to make a header for you or anything for when you do decide to take the plunge, feel free to ask! :)

If I fly you out to Kuwait, will you come cook for me.. oh & bring the skirt too :) Seriously though, your meals look delicious & the skirt is adorable!

Congrats on self hosting! I’ve never been sure about overnight oats. I don’t like them cold. I usually microwave mine for about a minute before I eat them. I think that just tastes better. Have a great day!

Your food looks way too good. I’ve never been a huge fan of overnight oats–if I know that I’m going to be short on time in the morning, I’ll make it the night before, but otherwise, I very much prefer hot, fluffy oats. And I’m so glad I’m not the only person who thinks baby corn is cute–whenever I eat it, I always talk about how cute it is and then people look at me funny. 😀

Those overnight oats look so good! I confess, I see them everywhere and have never made them. Something about cold oatmeal makes me really skeptical. I’m going to add it to my list of July goals, however, and give them a try since so many people rave about them. Those pork chops look good too!

Ahhh I LOVE this design and self hosted look SO much! I can’t wait til I take the plunge and do so as well! It looks SO good!
And yes to that skirt and the accompanying price tag! I love TJMaxx for that reason! Winning!
That dinner does look really good! I like the idea of a baked sweet potato and basil. I made basil sweet potato fries once and LOVED the taste combo.
Thai food is up there in one of my favorite comfort foods! Pad Thai FTW! have an excellent 4th of JUly!

Thank you so much! I’m pretty happy about how they turned out :). You should definitely go for it! TJ Maxx is the best! I have a hard time not being pulled into the star 😉

Have a wonderful one as well!

Your outfit is seriously gorgeous, girlie! I really need to go shopping for some maxi dresses because I just love how they look; and they’re seriously the epitome of relaxed summers. All of your eats look amazing, but I’m especially eyeing your dinner – it’s been way too long since I’ve had a sweet potato and I really need to change that!

Thanks so much <3. I love them too! I wish I was taller so I could fit into maxi dresses better. I can wear the skirts, but the dresses drag so much on me! I haven't had sweet potatoes in a long time as well, glad I brought them back!

The new design is awesome! And your header looks so great!! Did you make it yourself?

I have officially been blogging one year so I have been considering going self-hosted for awhile. I just need to find the right time and make the jump. Did you have many problems?

Beautiful photos today! Your supper looks so professional. The sweet potato is so fancy with the criss-cross cut 😀

    • says

I did! Let me know if you go self hosting and would like me to help you out with the header. I love making them!

I had a couple of problems, but I feel like they always arise when you try to do anything new on the computer haha. It’s not overly hard, but expect it to take at least 2 days to get your blog set up again!

Thanks girl! It matches my personality pretty accurately I think ;).

AREN’T THEY DELICIOUS? I will write up a post asap on how to make it! It tastes so much better when it’s homemade :). I order the tea leaves from amazon and I can make so many batches for such minimal cost!

I love the skirt!!! I totally can’t pull these off though. I’m literally 5 foot nothing and these types of skirts require some trimming 😉

    Congrats on being self-hosted 😀

Thanks, I love it! Ahh I feel your pain for the most part. I’m 5’3 so I’m usually too short to wear maxi dresses. Long skirts usually work on me as long as I pull the waist band up pretty high!

  10. says

Aw, your new design is amazing and especially the giraffe in the header is way too cute! Congrats on going self-hosted!
Nothing wrong with feeling like a princess at whichever age. That was actually what I liked most about my prom dress with its petticoat.

Mmm as always, all of your eats look absolutely delicious!

Also, I’m IN LOVE with your new blog! It is adorable and so fun! I love all of the colors, totally my thing :)

FOOD!! 😀 I hate when I go out to eat and then realize the foods/ drinks I order I could make so much better at home – drives me bonkers. I always think: WHERE IS MY REFUND!! lol. – Satisfaction guarantee?

Girl that skirt is sooooooo cute! I love long flowy skirts too because they make me feel whimsical. Rock those 8 year old feelings because I totally have them too lol I’m like yes, I am so cool! Your dinner looks like heaven on a plate. Hook me up with that meal!
