Porcelain Chic

Hi friends!

I’m going to do something new today and share a little bit of my weekend wear. Lately, I’ve been feeling that I want to make my blog more reflective of my life as a whole. Apple of My Eye has gone through a good amount of transitioning over the last few years as I’ve played around with it being an online diary to a fitness blog to a food blog. As it turns out, it’s not as easy as I thought to find my niche on the internet machine! I’ve decided that I want to combine all of my interest into my site, so this means I’m going to mashup recipes, random rambles, fashion, health, and anything else that strikes my fancy. Hope that flies with all of you lovely readers! I’m also totally open to suggestions for blog post ideas if you have any you’d like to see :). Just leave a comment or shoot me an email!

Outfit details at the bottom of the post!

This was my outfit on Saturday and I want to give a big thank you to Kyle for helping me with these photos! We’re both back in our hometown for the long weekend (I came back for one of my best friend’s birthday party) and we had a lot of laughs as I tried to teach Kyle how to use my camera and simultaneously tried my best to strike some non-awkward poses. Someone please tell me what I should do with my hands 😯 .

I took these while changing my settings to shoot multiple photos/second for some walking photos, and couldn’t help but post a photo of Kyle being my test subject. Ain’t he a cutie? I promise he’s much more cheerful and less intense-looking in person hahah.

And this is what happens when you try to take a selfie with a 50mm lens on a DSLR camera. So much face!

Happy to Move!

Today is just one of those days when it feels so good to be alive. I’m in a mood where I just want to move and live vicariously! It’s days like this where I really appreciate what my body lets me do. I’m so incredibly blessed to be healthy and capable of living the active lifestyle that I try to pursue. Anyways, enough sappy talk, here’s what I’ve been up to so far!

Last night I had my last real lab of the year! Those things are the devil so I’m not complaining one bit :). I always love getting a super late night dinner with Kyle at our favorite Vietnamese restaurant after though.

IMG_2126 IMG_2127 IMG_2128 After I came back, I felt exhausted but wanted to get my math homework out of the way so I would have a completely free Friday. Luckily, Kyle is really good at numbers and is always more than willing to help me out when I get stuck.

I woke up today around 7:30 after a not-so-great sleep, but felt ready to stretch my legs. I found this new app called “RunKeeper” that I think I will develop an obsession to. I’ve been whimpering about not having a Garmin (eek they’re expensive!) and wanting to track my progress as I try to get back into running. The app is awesome! It tracks your pace, splits, incline, etc and I love looking over the data on how my run went. It’s perfect because I don’t have to wear another watch and can simultaneously listen to my workout playlist. Here’s how today went:

Check out that high heart rate! Raise the roof! Woot Woot!

I know 2.5 miles isn’t a lot to some of you long distance runners, but I was happy with my negative splits and am looking forward to getting back into the running shape I was in when I played club soccer. I used to easily run less than a 7:30 mile pace- now I think I would pass out if I tried that!

Breakfast: Oatmeal with raisins, milk, and some honey, a banana, egg whites with ketchup, and coffee of course! I ended up getting some peanut butter and jelly to dip my banana in. It was SO good.

After breakfast I ended up hanging out with some friends before hitting up the gym with my bestie and the babesical (Don’t worry, I don’t really call him that… Ok, just sometimes…)

Gym with Kyle Gym with Tiana!

I started off by doing my 20 minute elliptical workout:

20 Minute Elliptical Interval Workout

And after, I completed the following strength training exercises:

  • Squat with Press: 3×10 with 45 lbs
  • Wide-Grip Lat Pulldown: 3×10 with 75lbs
  • Bicep Curls: 3×10 with 12.5 lbs
  • Dumbbell Shoulder Press: 3×10 with 12.5 lbs
  • Deadlifts: 3×10 with 85 lbs
  • Tricep Dips: 2×20 {bodyweight}
  • Calf Raises: 3×30 with 105 lbs {ouch ouch ouch!}
  • Seated Row: 3×10 with 70 lbs

I think it’s safe to say that I will be decently sore come tomorrow ;). After my great workout, I went back home and had fresh fish with lemon, a huge salad, and some ambrosia salad with some cottage cheese added for a protein kick.

Oh, and on a side note, how cool are these shorts that I snagged off Poshmark for $16? They’re new with tags and were initially $60.

tons of bling!

tons of bling!

If you haven’t heard of Poshmark, it’s an iPhone app that lets its users post and sell their old clothing. I’ve gotten SO many great deals from it and have actually made a good amount of money selling there myself.

Now it’s time to take a nap!

Pad Thai, Oblivion, & Bad Parking

This weekend was just what I needed. Although college is fantastic and I love my friends and most of my classes (that’s right, I’m talkin’ bout you chemistry), it can be very draining and fast paced. The life of a science major isn’t always the easiest! Luckily, I was able to take the weekend to head back home for some relaxation. It was filled with exactly what I needed: family, cooking, shopping, and my kitty.

Selfies!

Selfies!

As soon as I got back, I zoned in on these beauties and was in absolute heaven:

I had a killer time flipping through what seemed like endless amounts of recipes. I tend to hoard them and am excited to add more to my collection ;).

Saturday was date night with Kyle. Since he lives less than 10 minutes away from me, he’s always game to car pool back and spend some time at home.

Outfit of the Day:

A simple blue dress from Forever 21 ($14!!) paired with a gold leaf necklace and my all time favorite pair of gladiator shoes. The dress has a cut out back and is ridiculously comfortable :)

We chose to get some Thai food at a nearby restaurant that we love. Since we both love trying as many new things as possible (we’re good eaters!), we split three dishes and a Thai iced tea.

After dinner we headed over to Hoff’s Hut to pick up some cheesecakes for Mother’s Day. Kyle was so sweet and insisted on getting a strawberry topped one for my family to share! He also did a wonderful job at nailing the tricky parking spot we tried to get in!

that's my boy! ;)

*pass out*

Then it was off to Kyle’s house to grab his family to go see Oblivion. I thought it was interesting, but it got pretty confusing and hard to follow at times. It was also super long so my booty way definitely feeling the strain!

By the time I got home it was almost 12 and I was about ready to pass out. I slept like a baby and felt totally refreshed and ready to get my cook on for Mother’s Day! There will be lots of fresh, healthy, and delicious recipes coming soon, so stay tuned :).

I wish I could stay a couple of extra days, but I have to be up bright and early tomorrow to get in a morning workout and head to class!

Elliptical Workout and Outfit of the Day!

It’s such a b-e-a-utiful day today! I wore my new red shorts with a lace top and my brown gladiator sandals. I usually don’t do anything with my hair on an everyday basis, so I’m sporting my loose beachy waves like normal. Smiles, of course, to complete the outfit :).

I also created a super fast but effective elliptical routine that I often use before hitting the weights! It’s perfect for getting your heart rate up and makes you feel like you’re actually working out and not just going through the motions. I hope you guys enjoy it!

20 Minute Elliptical Interval Workout

The Plan for the rest of the day is to head over to French class, grab some lunch, and then prepare myself for my Calculus section and 4 hour Chemistry lab (vomit). Dinner will be late (around 9 or 10) and will probably revolve around Vietnamese food and a delicious iced tea with Kyle. I hope all of you have a wonderful day!
