This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Tom’s of Maine for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.
Let’s talk purse essentials today.
I’m the kind of person who always likes to be prepared. It’s hard not to be when you’re constantly running around and have to bring your life with you wherever you go. I’m currently balancing a busy schedule that involves being a full-time biology student, balancing two small businesses, working an internship, and fitting in workouts/my social life as a college student. My purse holds some of the main things that help me hold my life together!
Here are some of my essentials:
Tom’s of Maine Deodorant
If you’ve never heard of Tom’s of Maine, they are leaders in the industry when it comes to producing all-natural products. I’ve been trying to transition away from artificial products that I use in my everyday life and was excited to hear that Tom’s of Maine natural deodorant has no aluminum, no petrochemicals, no parabens and no artificial fragrances or preservatives! That means that their lovely lavendar scent doesn’t come from nasty chemicals.
Tom’s of Maine’s Long Lasting Natural Deodorant provides 24-hour odor protection, comes in fully recyclble packaging, and is not tested on animals. Not too shabby!
I brought my Tom’s of Maine’s with me as I scurried around campus and used it to help freshen up after a few hours out. It’s important to note that this deodorant is anti-order (keeps ya smellin’ fresh as a daisy!), but not an antiperspirant. Like most things, it’s important to give your body time to adjust to the natural formula since it’s different than most deodorants containing chemicals and artificial ingredients. I would be sure to try it out for at least 3-7 days with different scents to help find what works best for your body’s unique chemistry!
Healthy Snacks
Yup, no shame. I carry a full on pantry in my purse because when I get hungry, the world better watch out. I try to keep the majority of my snacks healthy because not only do they keep me feeling my best, but part of healthy living for me involved keeping healthier foods more obtainable. Instead of hitting up a vending machine, I can just reach into my purse!
To keep things tidy, I usually like to carry protein bars or longer lasting, non-perishable snacks around. I’m currently on a mission to sample every bar from Trader Joe’s (Kyle and I really love their brownie bars which are packed with fiber), but also love Kind and Zone Perfect (in Fudge Graham) bars as well!
Makeup Bag
Sometimes a girl needs a little touch up when she’s on campus all day in the hot sun. Carrying a small makeup bag with an eyelash curler (I have the straightest eyelashes ever), lip stain, and concealer for the big bags I have under my eyes from always being on the go.
I’m currently looking for more products to add to my beauty arsenal, so if you have any recommendations, let me know!
Handy Notebook
Since blogging requires a lot of creative work, I carry around a small notebook to jot down ideas I have for blog posts or to help me stay organized with the editorial calendar I’m trying to keep/photography sessions. Being unorganized and running around like a chicken without its head is a HUGE stress factor for me and I have a habit of jotting down any and every idea, errand, and thought which helps me keep my act together. If you ever live with me, you’ll notice that one of the first things I do in the morning is to put together a daily work plan. More on that in a future post (as I scribble that post idea down in my notebook haha) since it’s one of the most valuable routines I do that has allowed me to juggle all the things I’m working on and still maintain good grades as a bio major.
Alsoooo bonus points for cute color schemes and inspirational sayings to get me pumped up to seize the day!
So there you have it! Some necessitates that I always have on hand.
Question of the Day: What are some of your purse essentials?

I definitely carry around deodorant with me the majority of days. I never want to be out and about caught with some nasty BO! It’s the worst.
