MIMM: Work, Recipes, & Exciting New Purchases!

Ugh, Mondays. Who even invented them anyways? NOT ME.

I feel like the weekend always goes by in the blink of an eye, which is probably partly due to me always on the go. To be honest, I feel like I’m almost running myself to the ground with all the studying and work I’ve taken up. If anyone has any tips on how to increase your efficiency 500%, I’m all ears :).

So enough of this pessimistic Monday-talk. Let’s get on to appreciating all the marvelous things that life holds!

1. Marvelous is getting a ton of work done this weekend!

Even though I’ve been busy, it’s always satisfying to be productive. On Saturday, I studied physics for well over 5 hours and on Sunday I got in a good 3 1/2 for organic chemistry and an hour for biology. I don’t have exams for another week or so, but I hate cramming and find that the consistent hard work pays off. Along with that, I got some recipes developed and (finally) finished up a piece for my freelance work. Just gotta keep chugging along!

2. Marvelous is an assistant.

Also known as a boyfriend who is sweet enough to offer to help me with bloggy-related things. Since I’ve been completely drowning in work, Kyle (who has an easier workload this quarter) offered to help me with a few things like monetizing Apple of My Eye and helping test out a few easier recipes. While AoME is such a wonderful creative outlet for me and I lovelovelove all you guys (<3), it would be awesome to eventually get the site to a point where I can make a part-time living off of it to help pay for its upkeep and my need for apple pie err’day.

3. Marvelous is shopping!

Total impulse buy with this dress. I usually have a rule where I need to wait a couple of weeks to buy something to make sure I really want it, but the moment I saw this my hand clicked on the “add to cart” button. SO STINKIN’ CUTE.

image-33I also finally got around to using a Williams Sonoma gift card I’ve had for almost a year. I’ve been wanting to add more one-pot dishes to my recipe itinerary, but need pretty baking dishes to put them in. I found some great deals and am so excited for them to come in the mail! Here’s what I ended up buying:

I’m going to be on the lookout for when all my mail arrives. It’s going to be a field day!

So there’s a few marvelous things going on with me right now. It’s time to hit the hay and get ready for another busy week!

Question of the Day: What’s something marvelous in your life right now?

I love that sundress! So cute. Something marvelous in my life right now is the 75 degree weather we’re having. Unfortunately, it’s going to get cold again tomorrow, but this little peek at summer has been amazing! All I want to do is dig out my shorts and flip flops and lounge.

    • says

Ooohh that does sound marvelous! It’s been colder around here too (partly because I live literally next to the ocean). Can’t wait till we can both dress for the warmer weather!: )

  2. says

Kyle is such a sweetheart! I find it adorable that he helps you out AoME! What a man you have. Oh & what great taste you have. Hello that dress is a beauty!

  3. says

I’m so jealous of the fact that you are wearing sundresses – it’s not snowing here anymore but I’ve seen a total of two people out in shorts and they looked like they were freezing their butts off. 😉

  4. says

I totally know what you mean with the studying and being worked to the ground with school. I spent about 5 hours studying vitamins and minerals Saturday and another 3 on Sunday!
It definitely feels great once you’re done and know you’ve been productive though. Keep chugging along, you’ve got this!

I’m so jealous of Kyle’s free time. I don’t even know what free time is anymore. I don’t know what that sandwich or zucchini is, but they both look fantastic–perfect lunch right there! Now that it’s spring (errr, well, summer in Texas because the only seasons we have are summer and slightly-cooler-than-summer), I’ve had the itch to buy some new spring clothing but the whole I’m a poor college student and need to pay for rent and gas thing is kind of interfering with that…

    • says

He actually doesn’t have too much free time (this quarter his super-strict engineering schedule has him taking two GEs when he usually only has engineering/math/physics), but he has more than me and he’s a sweetheart who hates to see me floundering haha.

Ahh the life of a college student 😉

I have a similar rule about shopping – it takes a few tries before I will actually buckle down and spend my cash monayyy. :) So awesome that Kyle helps you – my man bought me a mini laptop when mine crashed and I couldn’t blog anymore. So sweet.

  7. says

Can we just talk about how EPIC that sandwich looks?! Sorry to hear about your overwhelming workload – I know when I took O.Chem it took over my life. Literally – dreamed of structures…thought about structures/bonds…ehh.

  8. Miranda says

Vanilla Glazed Blueberry Biscuits?! Girl, sign me up! <3 I totally hear ya on the impulse shopping. I just cancelled my debit card here in Bozo and transferred all the money to my current account and now I feel like I have so much more money (which I don't haha). Yesterday I was on tobi.com and just wanted to buy everything!

    • says

Mhmm, don’t they sound so good?! I’ve had blueberries on my mind lately and thought the combo would be delish :). Ohh man. Tobi.com KILLS ME. GIVE ME ALL OF YOUR CLOTHES. 😉

  9. Caitlin F. says

Beautiful pictures, lady!! I’ve been saving up for my first dslr, but there are so many that I’m having a hard time choosing. What kind of camera do you use? Thanks!

  10. says

I’m glad Kyle helps you out with your work–I need to get my boyfriend to start doing that eventually. Ha! I hope to eventually monetize my blog as well, or at least get a little bitof income from some freelance work. I did make a recent account with the oDesk website you had mentioned. I have a lot to learn about blogging, writing, and freelancing, but I’ve got to start somewhere. Very cute picture of you and Kyle by the way! And I cannot WAIT for that recipe for the Vanilla Glazed Blueberry Biscuits. Sounds heavenly.

    • says

Hahah you should get on that ;). Let me know how that goes for you or if you have any questions! All that info and navigating the site can get kind of frustrating and feels a little overwhelming at first. It’s a start, though!

  11. says

I need a Kyle in my life! Does he have a brother? 😉 My boy is super supportive of my blogging, but the fact that we’re doing the long-distance thing kind of limits how much he can help me out :( Ahh well. Just means I’ll need more coffee to fuel the creative energy, no? And girl, I’ve been meaning to hit you up with an e-mail to talk about blog related things, so I hope you don’t mind me bugging you soon 😛

    • says

Haha he does, but he’s just 16 years old so unless you’re planning on being a cougar, you might have to sit this one out ;). Bummer about the long distance! At least you guys got to spend some dreamy time together in Hawaii <3. So weird, I was planning on shooting you and email about bloggy things as well haha! I definitely see you as a role model in the blog world :).

Can't wait to hear from you and get to chattin'!

  12. says

LOVE that purple dress you ordered! How cute is that! Le Creuset is awesome! I’m sure you will make lots of tasty and fun recipes in your new dish :) Glad you had a good weekend pretty lady!

  13. says

Girl, you are gorgeous and I love your hair! Oh my goodness, William Sonoma is LIFE. I could go in there an roam around for hours and want to buy everything.

    • says

Thanks, Brittany! Kinda weird, but I just let my dye grow out and it turned into a semi-nice ombre. Guess being lazy about getting it touched-up pays off, right ;)? And SERIOUSLY. Any cook/bakeware store makes my heart swoon haha.

  14. says

Yay for all of the marvelous things that went down in your life this weekend! LOVING the dress that you bought– I might have to copy you. So summery and fun. And all of those Williams Sonoma goodies look very exciting… my favorite kind of mail to receive- kitchen supplies!! Food blogger moment, hehe. And I totally feel you on being extremely busy and feeling like you’re in way over your head, but it’s because you are pursuing your dreams and doing amazing things, so it will absolutely all even out in the end!! Good thing you have a fabulous “assistant” 😉 xoxox happy Monday, love!

    • says

DO IT! I got is off of Hautelook (the iPhone app by Nordstrom). Serious food blogger problems haha. I can tell I’m getting old by how much appliances excite me nowadays ;).

      Happy Monday! <3

  15. says

You look stunning in that picture with Kyle! He looks nice too lol I can’t wait for your blueberry biscuit recipe. That sounds soo delicious!! Something marvelous in my life right now is that I got to spend the weekend outside, so I’m finally looking less ghost-like with my sunburn haha

    • says

Hahah thanks, Sky! Kyle will do ;).

That is SO marvelous! Love the sun and at least red is a change up from ghost-like haha! I’m sure you look gorgeous like always <3.

  16. says

You and your man are too presh. I mean, seriously :)
And can you believe Ive never been to William Sonoma? True story, my mother in law is addicted to that place, and she has so many of their catalogs. I browse through them and find I want basically everything, which keeps me from the store. I know my bank account would take a huge dive if I ever went in there!!

  17. says

You must be so busy with everything!! It’s amazing how much your blog has grown!! :) It makes me so happy that you still have the time to comment on my posts. That dress is so pretty. I think I’m in love. I would have impulse bought that one as well :)

  18. says

I am completely with you on all of the studying… I’m also in O-chem & it can be a pain. Good for you on trying to get ahead! What were you going to school for again?
Love all of the new goodies too!! So cute! I too, would like to make a part-time living off of my blog, but am having trouble figuring out how to get it going. It’s tough.

  19. says

Girl, you are SO busy! Hearing you talk about studying for endless hours on end makes me so happy I’m done with school! As much as I love learning and miss learning in school, (I know, I’m a true nerd at heart) studying copious amounts of hours is one thing I do not miss!

Ahhh that dress! Too cute! Makes so super excited to get summer dresses, when our weather FINALLY decides to warm up!! Maybe by July… :/
