What I Ate Wednesday: Healthy Thai Sesame Patties

Why hey there all you party people!

It’s Wednesday, which means another What I Ate Wednesday post! I’ve got some great eats to show you guys as well as a tasty recipe that’s delicious and packed full of protein and flavor!

Healthy Protein Packed Thai Sesame Patties!

But first, my workout!

I had a great workout today thanks to my heart rate monitor. I usually am too lazy to put it on, but my workout is always fantastically sweaty when I do! I’m not sure why, but the built-in monitors on most machines don’t pick up my heart rate and it’s irritating constantly trying to get a proper reading. My heart rate monitor automatically transmits my numbers to the screen of the cardio machines and helps motivate myself to get my heart pumpin’ and not just go through the motions!

My workout consisted of 30 hard minutes on the elliptical, 10 minutes on the bike, and lots of abs! Has anyone tried a Captain’s Chair before? The one at my gym is amped up with a bosu ball back and is so hard. I definitely felt the burn!

IMG_3106Now, to the food!

Breakfast: oats on oats on oats!

DSC_1211Lunch: thai food with Kyle! We split a green papaya salad and beef pad thai.

Also, can someone please tell me why guys always get the best eyes? Boys suck. Boo.

IMG_3108 IMG_3109Dinner: I whipped up those tasty thai sesame patties I mentioned before for dinner and ate them with some sautéed green beans! They have a great asian flavor and are delicious dipped in thai sweet chile sauce.

Not only do they taste pretty darn good, they’re good for ya! With 30g of lean protein per serving, they make for a filling and drool-worthy lunch or dinner. Just add some brown rice and veggies and you have yourself a power meal! I can’t wait for leftovers tomorrow!

If you’d be so kind to pin this picture below on pinterest, I’d love you five-ever (that’s more than forever!)

The rest of the evening was spent on a long beach walk with Kyle. We talked about everything, from body dysmorphia in both men and women to the size of blue whales and what we would do if a T-Rex attacked us. We obviously make a very deep and reflecting couple. Oh, and a venti pumpkin spice latte was involved!

WIAW: Delicious Eats and Man-Doll

Hello lovelies!

I hope life has been treating all you perfect people well and that you’re ready for my weekly WIAW post (I know it’s the highlight of your week, obviously). My eats have been pretty delicious, but my photos aren’t up to par. Sometimes you can’t beat the convenience of snapping a quick pic with your iPhone! Anyways, tallyho!

Breakfast: a simple cereal bowl with cheerios and mini wheats. Milk added after, since soggy cereal is my biggest enemy.

DSC_1167Snackage: trail mix! Cashews and chocolate=my life.

IMG_2928Lunch: I’ve been getting a Chipotle craving every week or so, and my belly was quite satisfied to have an enormous salad bowl with all the fixings. Well, minus the spicy salsa. Fun fact: I basically have no tolerance for spice whatsoever. Like, zero.

IMG_2846Dinner: homemade pizza with a garlic-infused crust! I tried out using part whole wheat to make it, and it turned out fabulous! Add an extra slice to the picture, it was too good to resist ;).

IMG_2938Dessert: fresh blueberries! The perfect post-dinner sweetness.

IMG_2940

In other non-food related news, I went shopping with Kyle for some new clothes and had a blast dressing him up. He’s like my own personal man-doll.

IMG_2926Anddd that’s about all I have, folks!

Can’t wait to see all of your eats as well!

First Self Hosted WIAW!

Hey everyone, happy Wednesday! I look forward to it every week since I always find at least a couple new awesome blogs to stalk follow! I’m happy to announce that this is my first What I Ate Wednesday as a self hosted blogger! Thanks as always to Jenn for hosting!

Before I get into the food though, HOW CUTE IS THIS SKIRT? $18 at TJ Maxx. Boom. I’m absolutely in love with it and it makes me feel like a princess when I move. I’m 8, I know.

Breakfast: Overnight oats prepared with the cast of characters you see below! Before eating, I topped mine with walnuts, both normal and golden raisins, and some PB Crave in Cookie Nookie! To be honest, I never got the big fuss about overnight oats. For some reason, they were delicious this time around, though. Guess my proportions were off before. Sorry for the bad pic!

Lunch: Lunch was with the boyfriend at a Thai restaurant. I got a stir fry with mushrooms, baby corn (d’aww), celery, chicken, onions, and a delicious sauce. A Thai Tea was necessary, of course. I don’t understand why I pay $3 for one every time I see it at a restaurant when I can make it better at home for basically free. DON’T JUDGE ME, OKAY?

IMG_2636 IMG_2635

Dinner: Today’s dinner came along really fast and with minimal mess. Win! I cooked a sweet potato and topped it with some Earth Balance and fresh basil, roasted some asparagus, and caramelized half an onion I had lying around. The best part of the meal was the pork chops. I just seasoned them with pepper and Lawrey’s garlic salt and pan fried them So simple, yet so delicious!

Dessert was in the form of a latte and Norwegian chocolate. Honestly, people need to know about how amazing the chocolate in Norway is. The Swiss get all the credit!

What was the best thing you ate today?

Want to try some Norwegian chocolate? (say yes or I eat your first born child)

WIAW #4 & Body Fat Percentage LIES

Hey guys, happy Wednesday! I’ve been slacking lately on keeping up with What I Ate Wednesday every week, but I’m hoping to change that. Without further ado, here’s the daily noms!

Breakfast:

Greek yogurt with tons of fresh fruit before I headed out to the gym for a meet-up with one of the personal trainers there! I actually had a pretty cool experience talking to him and am excited about some upcoming advancements in both my health and fitness education. More on that at the end of the post!

IMG_0927

Snackage:

No utensils needed! Go on and just stick your fingers right up in that good goop. Wahoooo!

IMG_0910

Lunch:

Kyle and I went to a Thai restaurant for our midday meal and got the usual Beef Pad Thai (OMGSOGOOD) and ordered the chicken fried rice as well. We’re a pretty good sharing team and have switching plates down. A Thai iced tea on the side, of course!

That meal REALLY did me in. I’m basically a baby in that as soon as I eat a big meal, it’s nap time and I get cranky. I honestly don’t even know how Kyle puts up with me sometimes haha.

Post-Nap Recovery Ice Cream

That’s a category, right?

Dinner:

Miso-glazed salmon with brown rice and sautéed asparagus. Yum.

So now that you’ve seen my entire day’s eats, we’re basically bffls for life right? Wait, best friends for life for life? Whatever. We be rollin’ like peanut buttah and jelly, yo.

SO. Back to my day at the gym. Since I just joined up a new one, I get an initial evaluation of fitness goals along with a free personal training session. I’m really lazy about contacting someone about actually using them, so I was lucky when a personal trainer approached me yesterday mid-walking lunge. I felt extremely flattered when he asked me if I competed since I’ve never really considered myself that strong or toned looking. Anyways, he was pretty eager to set me up with an appointment to do my evaluation, which is what I did today. We had a great talk ranging from the importance of strength training for bone density (don’t even get me started, I can rant for hours about it), getting certified as a personal trainer, and even theories about the existence of God/religion in general. It was a pretty deep talk for only having met for 5 minutes the day before haha.

He offered to give me all his study supplies/text books for basically every certification that exists, which is awesome since the tests themselves cost a bundle. His passion for his job is astounding and I had a wonderful time talking about subjects that really speak to myself as well.

I also had a body fat percentage test done, which turned out really interestingly for me. I’ve gotten one done before, and was a bit dismayed over my results, which placed me as average. While I didn’t get caught up over it, I expected to have been placed at least in the “athletic range”. However, as he was taking my measurements he exclaimed that my skin is extremely thick (weird, I know) and so the numbers he was getting were no where near correct. I’ve never noticed it before, but he had me pinch my skin and then his and he’s right, I’m a freak! Woot!

owl-no-wai

It was exciting to find out that I have a much lower percentage than what my previous results told me :).

So feel free to hurl your insults at me because I literally have thick skin!

What was the best thing you ate today?

WIAW #4

Hello and happy hump day! Since I usually post what I eat on Tuesday, I decided to just include the other things that went on yesterday as well.

Breakfast: Fruit salad with granola and cottage cheese for some protein. COFFEE!

IMG_2341

Lunch: Hayuuuggeee salad with some honey mustard dressing. And a SUPER delicious spiced chicken burrito as well.

IMG_2343 IMG_2344

Dinner: Spaghetti with both meat sauce and pesto sauce with some caesar salad and a small piece of garlic bread.

IMG_2347I wasn’t feeling at all hungry, so dinner was a little on the small side for me.

Snackage: The lazy girl’s way of eating a banana and PB.

IMG_2091

After eating, I read some blogs and got inspired to go on a run. Let me tell you, running after a spaghetti dinner is probably the worst idea anyone has ever had in the existance of forever. I ran two miles before calling it quits and walking a quarter of a mile home.

I love UCSB!

I love UCSB!

I felt pretty gross and sick, but the walk back helped me get back some bounce to my step and I joined some friends for Zumba! We even managed to persuade Hot Ryan to come dance with us. That boy sure knows how to get down and shake dat ass ;). He particularly excels at the sultry dance moves.

Sexy and he knows it!

Zumba was a ton of fun, but like usual, I looked like a total goof trying to keep up with the instructor. My sport since I was 5 years old has always been soccer (I was captain of a Club team for the last 6 years!) and I’m the most uncoordinated person ever when it comes to dancing. I kid you not when I say that Hot Ryan is a better dancer than I am ;).

After our workout, some of my main ladies and I tried out a homemade honey facial. I’m not sure if it actually worked any magic on my skin, but it tasted delicious!

The rest of the night is going to include a coffee/chocolate date with my love bug and studying a bit for my upcoming finals. DSC_0752
