WIAW #1

I thought participating in my first What I Ate Wednesday would be the perfect way to celebrate my first week of blogging. Like most bloggers, this is really what I ate on Tuesday ;).

Breakfast: Oatmeal with a sprinkle of brown sugar, honey, and raisins. A banana on the side and plenty of coffee! Along with half a sticky bun (couldn’t resist!).

Ooooeeeyyy-goooeeeyyy goodness!

Lunch: Lots of yummies made an appearance at lunch. Chicken pot pie, buttered beets, green beans, and some raw veg made up the main course.

A salad on the side…

And some fresh fruit to top it off!

Dinner: A gyro sandwich on pita with fresh lettuce, cucumers, tomatoes, and beef slices. A huge dollop of tzatziki sauce on top and some tahini on the side.

Another salad. Loving me some carrots at the moment!

Dessert: One of my favorite times of the day is at night when Kyle and I have our usual coffee and chocolate date. With all the See’s Candy that my parents gave us, I don’t think we need to worry about running out anytime soon!

Two and a Half Years

Today has already been a good day, but the best is yet to come!

Last night was a late one. I had a french essay due and a history midterm, so I was immersed in work and studying my entire Sunday. I ended up going to sleep around 1 and waking up at 6:30 to finish up some last minute reviewing. However, I think my essay turned out fairly well (thanks. Tiana, for proofreading it!) and my history midterm was a breeze. I also got back my French and Chemistry midterms and am pleased with my grades. It’s been a good day!

However, things are just going to get better! Today marks our 2 1/2 year dating anniversary, so Kyle and I have plans to go out to a fancy shmancy restaurant called Cold Spring Tavern. It began as a stagecoach stop in 1886 and was chosen as the best place in California for a romantic getaway. It’s become “our place” after going there on Valentine’s Day, and I absolutely adore it. I can’t wait!

Breakfast

Today started off on a good note with a delicious bowl of oatmeal. I added some raisins and honey to give it some extra flavor and a banana that I ended up cutting up and mixing in as well! As always, coffee made an appearance.

So much nommage!

Lunch

Lunch was filled to the brim with veg! I had some steamed broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots with a piece of roast chicken and sun-dried tomato bread. Raw carrots/celery with hummus and spinach dip on the side.

Workout

After a power nap I read some blogs and decided that a quick workout would be a perfect way to stretch out my legs.

I did a quick 25 (or should I say 24:59) minute workout that had my calves burning!

If you couldn’t tell by my timing, I was dying to push that stop button! It was AWESOME 😉

Do You Even Lift? ;)

Today started off with a bang! I got up around 7:15, read some blogs, then got dressed to head out for a quick run. I ate a small protein bar to give me a little energy to work with, drank a bottle of water, and then headed out the door.

IMG_1730

My run went as well as can be expected. I haven’t run in a while, so it was hard to get myself motivated to put some miles under my shoes. Ideally, I’d like to be running at least three times a week. Hopefully I’ll be able to keep at it more :). There’s something addictive about running and I’m already pumped to go out again tomorrow!

I ended up running for a little over 30 minutes in a loop around my school. I’m not sure how many miles I covered since my Zombies, Run! iPhone app had had some new developments and I was too eager to go to figure out how to start a new mission. The program has a built in GPS tracking system that tells you your miles and pace. All I know is that I had a good run and was super shhweaatyy by the end! My heart rate was consistently high, so I’m also happy about that.

IMG_1732 IMG_1749

After that, I went back to my room to grab my gym things and to meet Tiana to let her borrow some workout clothes. We biked on over to the gym to get in a good lifting sesh and to pump mad iron ;).

IMG_1734 IMG_1739

We had a GREAT full-body workout and I can tell that I’m going to be especially sore tomorrow. Love that feeling!

Kyle also met us at the gym. Hurray for gym dates! I’m so glad that he’s not one of those ignorant guys who scoff at women who do more than just cardio. Kyle has always been supportive in every possible way :).

Fit!

Not too shabby for doing weights alone :)

We ended up walking home since Tiana’s bike had a flat tire, and by the time we got back, we were all starving! I ended up getting an egg white omelet with all the fixings, fresh fruit with some yogurt and cottage cheese, and some black coffee (x2). I also nibbled on some coffee cake. It tastes unbelievably good paired with the coffee. That’s probably why they call it coffee cake haha… What an epiphany!

How have your experiences been with talking to men about lifting?

I can’t wait to take a nice, long shower! Catch ya’ll later!
