Hi friendly faces! Long time no chat.
I had a super relaxing weekend, but screwed myself over slightly because this week has been jam-packed with work. I had a prelab and lab report due today (along with my 4 hour lab) and juuuussttt finished writing my final essay for my comparative literature class. My final for the class is this Thursday, so I’ve been studying a bit when I’ve had the time.
Let’s catch up!
I went home for the weekend…
Lots of relaxing, hiking, playing with Kyle’s chickens, and working on my photography. I’ve decided to try my hand at actual people photography (don’t worry, my first love will always be taking copious amounts of food pictures) and Kyle was nice enough to pose for me while I worked on my lighting and composition. I have to admit, taking pictures of boys is no where near as fun as girls. No feminine poses or tossing long locks of hair in the sunset with this one 😯 . If anyone has any advice on portrait photography/editing, I would love to learn more!
I got an Instagram account…
Not a good idea when I had such a busy week ahead of me… I’ve already found some of my online friends there (hello, Julia!) and would love to connect with you guys! Follow me HERE if you’d like to see more tasty photos and my latest attempts at people photography .
And now that we’ve caught up a little, let’s move on to Wednesday’s normal programming! Here’s a quick recap of today’s eats:
Breakfast:
Oats cooked with cinnamon and vanilla extract and topped with brown sugar.
Lunch:
Kyle and I met up for lunch and split a Panda Express feast. I know Panda isn’t “authentic” Chinese, but myyyy gooodness. I could eat orange chicken all day long.
Dinner:
Since I had a busy day and was working on my essay, Kyle cooked up dinner. He made a quick lemon chicken pasta and cut up some lettuce for a side salad. Yum!
And there we have it! It’s currently 11:20 p.m and I’m hoping to get to bed a little earlier than usual, so g’night!
Hope all is well with you guys!

Instagram is legit addicting so I’m sure you will enjoy it/hate it when you’re trying to be productive. Also, LOL make it rain–love it.

Please fly to the east coast while Joshua and I are home and take our photos??!!! In all seriousness, you are just a rockstar behind the lens.

Chickens?! You’re a brave soul — chickens scare the bejeezus out of me. But I totally blame that on the fact that I got chased by a turkey when I was younger… Traumatized for life, I tell ya. And you got IGGGGGG! 😀 Welcome to the addiction!

More school work? shemurr. 😛
I know absolutely nothing about taking pictures, but the ones you took of Kyle look good!
Hehe we have lots of chickens, but I personally don’t go near them because #1: their dumb as all get out and #2: the roosters are vicious!!
Yesss I used to get the orange chicken with fried rice every time I went to Panda. But alas I have switched over to the more healthy options!

You cannot imagine my excitement when I saw you started Instagram! Thanks for my little shoutout. 😉
Your eats look so good, and I am all about Panda Express too. Sometimes, it doesn’t need to be authentic!
If you need a female to practice your photography skills on, I will do all of the hair flipping you need. I’m looking forward to even more copious amounts of food pictures though!
Amy @ Long Drive Journey says
I think your people pictures are awesome! I am always amazed by how much better a DSLR can capture light (especially when it comes to people) than a regular camera. I want one so bad!

I think you’re the one who needs to be giving US photography tips! Girl you have an eye for photography. All of your photos have always been gorgeous! And your oats look amazing. Sometimes the simple oats are the absolute best!
Sarah @ Making Thyme for Health says
Your pictures came out awesome! I know nothing about people photography but I’m pretty impressed by those shots. I’d totally hire you to take some headshots for me if you lived in NorCal!

It must be a half Asian thing….I loved Panda Express in America and may have turned down dinner in Chinatown in San Fran for it….oops.
Stoked you got instagram but it won’t let me follow you?

Such a funny and honest post!!Hahaha I love how you say that your one and true love will always be “Copius amounts of food pictures” ! I totally get you. I was doing some people photography earlier on in the week of my best friend in the sunset. They came out beautifully, but there is so much less refinement + detail in people compared to food that it’s a hard contrast to compare! People feel way more out of control and hard to camera-tame compared to food…IMO! His pics look amazing though, nice one!
Well done on all of the hard work…I dread going back to full time university from my full time summer of waitressing, baking and blogging! Ahhh!
Mmmm orange chicken!! Yum!!
Hope you are well
