Outfit of the Day and Weekend Recap

As the weather gets warmer, I find it a major struggle to try to get work done. I have a physics midterm this Tuesday and my attitude towards it has been alternating between semi-stressed and nonchalant, which is really uncharacteristic of me. Usually, I’m a ball of stress and anxiety when it comes to math-based classes and that causes me to be able to concentrate and focus on practice questions for hours at a time. The problem is that I live riiiiiiighht above the pool in my apartment complex and seeing all of my friends down there partying all day in the warm (90 degree!) California sun is a huge distraction. The weather in general here has been so gorgeous that staying indoors at my desk almost seems like a crime! I’m trying to balance work and play this weekend, but there hans’t been as much studying happening as I’d like. But you know what? Not as much work means that my weekend recaps are much more fun to read. Here’s what I’ve been up to so far!

Friday was spent watching a little Netflix, studying, taking a blissful nap, and hanging out with friends. Oh! And more s’mores ice cream because ya’ll know I can’t get enough of that stuff.

I woke up early on Saturday and went for a super short 2 mile run to stretch out my legs. If I were to pick one fitness goal I’d like to improve on, it would be running longer and faster. For me, running gives me the best overall cardio workout, but I have a love/hate relationship with it and can fall out of a good running groove in no time at all. I kept it short since a.) it was hot and b.) I went out too hard for not running consistently and burnt out early. I feel like if I signed up for a race I would be motivated to run and (hopefully) catch the running bug, but for the most part, my motivation is lacking. If anyone has any tips on how they developed a love for running, I’d love to hear them!

After my run, I came back, showered, did a little more studying, and got ready to go to State Street for a lunch date with my parents who had driven up for a day visit. I tend to only put on real-girl clothing once a week, so I was excited to wear my new floral cardigan out for the first time! If you want to know the formula for how to dress like a stereotypical California girl, just add together high waisted shorts, a crop top, sandals, and some sort of beachy-Indie flair. Voila! You fit right in.

Outfit of the day!Lunch was at a restaurant named “Jane”, which had high reviews on Yelp. My mom is yelp-obsessed and won’t go to a restaurant without scrutinizing the reviews there first.

My parents had appetizers waiting for us when we arrived, which included balsamic-glazed onion rings and french fries. Both of which were good, but the onion rings were a little too heavily battered for my taste. For my main course, I ordered a salmon shrimp salad that came with avocado and a light dressing.

So here I am! Taking a small break to type this post up before getting back to physics :(. I’m almost done though, so I just gotta power through so Kyle and I can get back to a night of snuggling on the couch with our bff Netflix and more ice cream. Go Christine, GO!!!

If you need help getting into the studying mindset, you’re more than welcome to come visit me up here in Edmonton. It snowed last night 😯 Not a tonne, but enough to leave a little layer of the white stuff on the ground. Lovely, no? I’m thinking that a coffee shop or library in sunny Cali is probably a better way to go 😉

Happy Sunday, love! Hope you manage to fit in some time to relax <3

Your outfit is adorable :) ! I wish I was living in Cali haha! Sounds like my kind of style! Good luck on your test this week! :)

Sign up for a race!! It will definitely motivate you to run especially if you follow a training plan :) I am so jealous of your Cali weather! It’s supposed to hit 50 today and it feels so warm out!

You can never go wrong with Netflix and ice cream! I love the outfit. I wish I could pull off the high waisted shorts, but I have such a short torso I don’t think I could. Hope your weekend was great!

I’m sure it would look great on you! I’m pretty short and don’t have a long torso either, so I don’t think that would be a problem :). And yup! Netflix+ice cream=the good life ;).

Exams and finals have been eating up my time. My stress levels have been through the roof. Man oh man.. I cannot wait until Summer vacation. It is much needed. Only a few weeks left! I hope things get better, and I know you will rock the exams. :)

By the way, your fashion sense is so cute! Seriously, when I’m in a rut, I go look at some of your outfits (is that weird?) and I get inspired.

I hope you have a relaxing Sunday. <3

Aww hope you’re done with them soon <3. Just remember, summer is just around the corner! And then you'll have plenty of time for cooking/baking/your art/relaxing :).

Haha I never thought of myself as having even an ounce if fashion sense so the idea of being a semi-inspiration is pretty cool and new to me!

AH I love your outfit! It was in the high 70s/mid 80s all last week and now it’s been 60 and raining. I have this outfit in mind that looks juuuuuuust like yours, but it was too hot for the sweater and now it’s too cold for the shorts. Bah. 😉

Also, you have the perfect formula for a good night: Netflix + ice cream = bliss!

Ahh I remember it being super tough to study when the weather got nice. I’d say you get past that after college, but when it’s nice outside, it’s hard to keep focused at work too!

Cute outfit by the way :)

You my friend are gorgeous! Love the outfit. Such a fashionista! Hope you & Kyle had a magical night of cuddling :) :)

You are one powerhouse of mental energy! If i saw my friends swimming in a pool in California weather, nothing, NOTHING would be able to stop me, except maybe ice cream! Thats awesome tho that you have that kind of discipline! (high five!)
I kind of have the same relationship with running as well. Its more annoying than anything, really.
Enjoy the little splurts of freedom throughout your studies! :)

Hahah I mean, if ice cream were throw in at the pool party, I don’t think I’d be able to resist ;). If you ever discover the secret to consistent running, pleeeeassee let me know haha ;).

I also had a Netflix date last night…the besttttttt. Studying when the weather is nice out is nearly impossible so I’m glad you decided on the library. Library=total concentration, right?

Signing up for a race was THE way that I fell in love with running. Before I started training, I would run maaaaaybe once a week if it fit perfectly with my schedule and I was in the mood. But since I went so rarely I never improved and it was hard to love it. But when you are running regularly with a goal in the back of your mind it becomes such an amazing thing! Good luck – you definitely can do it. I’m so far from an expert but email me if you want to talk about anything. :)

That’s what I think will happen to me too! I’m pretty competitive and knowing that I have a race coming up, I think I’ll have more motivation to run more consistently. We’re super similar in that regard :)

Girl, you are TOO gorgeous. That outfit looks fabulous on you!

P.S. your mom is too cute! I think she’s a smart woman…that way she’s guaranteed to go to a place that is a winner! :)

Ok, check you out in that adorable cardigan and high waisted shorts! I love the formula for how to dress like a California girl… so spot on. And I’m willing to bet your nonchalance about your upcoming test has something to do with the school year coming to a close – I always found myself struggling to stay motivated when summer was right around the corner!! And your parents are absolutely adorable. What a fun lil’ lunch double date. Can’t wait to hear how you crush your test!! And then you’ll be ooonnne step closer to summer :) xoxox!

I love your cardigan! It’s so pretty. I was looking for something like that for my honeymoon but didn’t have enough time to find one.

I have to agree with your mom too. Yelp is my favorite way to find restaurants. It rarely disappoints!

If your blog randomly became a fashion blog overnight, I think it’s safe to say that I would still follow you religiously. Your outfit is gorgeous! And this may sounds SUPER creeper, but I swear I’m saying this with a lot of admiration and what not- you have amazing legs! They are so muscular and strong! I’ve been into the flowy cardigans/ three quarter length really light covers! They’re so cute!!

Aww this totally made me smile when I read it! And honestly, that comment means SO much to me. I’ve ALWAYS been self-conscious about my legs and growing up, they were the least favorite part of my body since I would compare myself to all those slim legs my friends had. I’m still only now coming to terms with actually liking them for being different and muscular. Sending you lots of love <3. Thanks for making my day!
