Hello everyone and happy Wednesday! I’m so excited for this post because
- I’m hosting my first ever giveaway!
- I can actually show you in my WIAW post how much the item I’m giving away has already benefited me!
I mentioned in yesterday’s Marvelous in My Monday post that I had recently purchased an eBook from the lovely Lindsay at Pinch of Yum and have been thrilled with how much it’s taught me in just a few days. I mean, really, this lady makes it so easy to understand photography and has step by step instructions on how to make your photos stunning! I emailed her thanking her for writing such a wonderful book and, after a little communicating, I became an affiliate and she offered to give one lucky reader a free copy of her eBook!
Here are just a few of the things that come in this easy to read and understand beauty:
- Technical Tips: aperture, shutter speed, and ISO.
- Composition Tips: orientation, composition idea, and movement
- Lighting Tips: window hunting, scraping, and folded paper trick
- Props and Set Up Tips: prop ideas and organization, set-up process
- Editing Tips: photoshop, lightroom, and iPhoto
Don’t know what a lot of these mean? Don’t worry, I didn’t either! But, Lindsay explains them so easily and with so many helpful explaining photos that you’ll pick it up in no time.

Now, on to the eats!
Breakfast: a bowl of greek yogurt, cottage cheese, grapes, strawberries, blueberries, almonds, and granola!
Lunch: homemade (and healthy!) creamy corn chowder soup with chicken.
Snackage: a delicious and fairly nutritious oreo shake made with a new and exciting find: healthy cookies that don’t taste like poo! And trail mix from Trader Joe’s. Cashews and bebeh PB cups are my JAM!
Dinner: Dinner today was a lazy one. A whole wheat bagel, cream cheese, lox, and onions as well as the last of my kabocha on the side
So there they are! I already feel like my photos have improved dramatically and I’m only on day two of having the book. I’m so excited to learn more!
- Kyle will be writing his guest post soon about a guy’s thoughts on how women negatively pick apart their body and what he considers, along with many other men, to be the most important and beautiful aspects of a girl. Stay tuned for his post on Thursday or Friday!
Hope you had some great eats as well!
xoxo Christine

Wow your photos really look amazing! So clear and great colors! I’ve taken a few journalism photography classes at my university and so photography has become a new hobby/love of mine. I just got a Nikon d90 for my birthday in June and would love to get this e-book that has tips for food photography so my blog pictures will be better.
Paris @ I Have a Fiture says
The last thing I took a picture of was my quinoa seeds sprouting! I would LOVE to win a copy of Tasty Food Photography beacause, even though I have a fancy-schmancey DSLR camera, and food is what I take pictures of the most, I feel as though my pictures aren’t quite up to fancy-schmancey par. 😛
caitlin says
your photos look magazine worthy! i’d love to own that book for some tips & tricks!
Aurora@Fitness is Sweet says
Man I really could use this! My pictures are usually just straight down shot of my plate with my iPhone…
Fran@BCDC says
Your soup looks delicious, Christine! I love corn chowder…I need to make it, but probably not until Fall! Happy WIAW!
Kim @ Hungry Healthy Girl says
The last thing I photographed was my food throughout the day, yesterday, for WIAW. I have got to learn my camera and you don’t know how much I want to win this book!!!! Thanks for a great giveaway!
Looks like you’re already learning a lot. Your pictures look great!
Kelly@KellyRunsforFood says
Your food pics look awesome! I want that oreo smoothie recipe!
Tiff @ Love Sweat & Beers says
Great eats! The last thing I photographed was last night’s salad. Figures, eh? haha

Bagel for dinner? Best idea EVER! You can never go wrong with a bagel, no matter the time of day 😉
I have got to find those oreo cookies! And baby pb cups??? Oh man, I’ve got to get my hands on those!
Christine @ Gotta Eat Green says
Your pictures look great, I should really invest in that book. I love the idea for your man’s view guest post! So clever! Maybe I’ll try to get my man to write a post…I think you’ve started something pretty good here! Haha!
Beth Sheridan @sugarcoatedsheridans says
What a fabulous giveaway! I think I need that…I might actually post more of what I eat
Beth @ Mangoes and Miles says
Girlie, your photos look awesome! I’ve never actually read a book on photography–I’m too lazy to, hah. For now I just adjust knobs and snap away and pretend like I sort of know what I’m doing. If I had time, I’d definitely check the book out and try to learn a thing or two.
Meghan @ fitnesscrEATures says
Yay for your first giveaway! I Hope I can do one soon! Ah your pictures are amazing, I didn’t know there was a book about this stuff! First, though, I NEED a camera that’s not on my phone, haha! That corn chowder is healthy? WIN! I love that kind of soup over a brothy one but always pass because I know it’s likely full of fat… Hmm, totally intrigued. Have a lovely day!
Eating 4 Balance says
Your pictures are looking great! And I’m interested to read Kyle’s post
P.S. I want your breakfast bowl 😉
Kathy @ Olives and Garlic says
I love everything you ate especially that Oreo Shake. It looks so good

The last thing I took a picture of was a cavity prep I did (I am a dental student) and the reason why I want to win the camera is because I want to start blogging about my adventures in baking desserts.
Charlotte @ Commitness to Fitness says

those cookies sound yummy…and they are healthy…ok yes please
Mary says
Your pics look great! I’d love this e-book to pick up some little tricks for taking photos. I normally end up so hungry by the time I’ve made my food my photo ends up really rushed and not as good as it could be.
Jamie @ Sometimes Healthy Living Blog says
Wow! I can’t believe how much your photos have improved! They look great!! I’m always looking to improve my photography (definitely not my strong point). So I’ll need to enter this giveaway STAT. Also, the oreo shake looks amazing.
Jemma @ Celery and Cupcakes says
What a gorgeous day of food! Loving your meals.
Brittany @ Freckled Nettles says
That is an awesome guest post idea! I’d love to hear a guy’s perspective. The last thing that I took a picture of was my breakfast (#foodie problems). I’d like to win a copy because I love having new recipes!
Lindsey @ Indiana Hearts says
Your photos look so good! And I need to check out those cookies…I swear I thought it was impossible to find healthy cookies that taste good.
Nikki @ The Road to Less Cake says
After seeing your post the other day about the ebook on food photography from Pinch of Yum, I was contemplating buying one, so I’m so happy you’re giving one away for free. I really want to experiment with my food photography more. Sometimes I’m a bit guilty of just point and shoot.
The last thing I took a picture of was my breakfast, just on my phone, which I posted on Instagram.
Your chowder looks delicious and that smoothie looks yum.
Nikki @ The Road to Less Cake says
I typed your twitter name wrong (dopey me) on the tweet, so I did it again: https://twitter.com/RoadtoLessCake/status/355013931871383552

Letting Kyle write a post about his view on the topic is a great idea and I’m already curious to read it! It’s not something I’ve ever talked about with guys before so it’s going to be really interesting.
That’s such a fantastic giveaway because I still have lots to learn about photography and trial & error only gets you so far. The last picture I took was one of my friends earlier today because I don’t have enough of them yet and we’ll soon move apart. Better start collecting memories now, I guess …
Kim @ BusyBod says
My food photos are ugly. Yours are looking gorgeous. Clearly I need this book! Please pretty please
Liz @ The Girl on Fire Now says
Cool! I love your photos
Rachael says
Still think kabocha looks like something I need to try. That chowder looks really good – do you have a recipe for it? As for healthy-oreo-style-cookies, I think I need these…although I doubt they’d still be healthy if I polished off the entire box, which I think I’d be pretty likely to do…
Laura Agar Wilson (@lauraagarwilson) says
Ah I wish we had Trader Joes here in the UK, so many lovely things seem to come out of there! That smoothie with the oreos looks amazing!
Sarah @ Making Thyme for Health says
Isn’t Lindsay’s book awesome?! I’m so glad you decided to purchase it. There’s no sense in letting a perfectly good DSLR just sit around.
Kaycee @ FitFace says
Oh boy oh boy! thats definitely something I could useover here.. I just started blogging and I’m uber disappointed in my photo taking skills lol sad face.
Also, very much looking forward to Kyle’s post! I suffer with body shaming syndrome, I’m working on it 😉
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl says
Isn’t it super sad when you get to the last of your kabocha? I know it always makes me a bit unhappy!!
Brittany @ DulceVie says
How exciting! I love learning new things about food + photography! All of that food looks yummy btw
Nicole @ FruitnFitness says
My photography skills are horrible, all these pictures look wonderful! Is it sad that one of the things in this post that stuck out to me was eating the last of the kabocha? Finishing off the kabocha is a BIG deal!
Leslee @ Her Happy Balance says
The last thing I took a picture of was a package of goodies I received in the mail yesterday. I think I basically NEED this book. I don’t exactly have a fancy camera, although I do have a camera and I should use it more often instead of my iPhone, but I’m sure I could benefit from the book immensely.
Meghan@CleanEatsFastFeets says
A food photography book would be killer, although based on your photos you don’t really need it. Everything looks so beautiful, and I heart those little PB cups in your trail mix.
Emily @ Sweet Summer Smiles says
I would love to a photography book to help enhance my overall photography skills!
Hayley says
The last pic I took was of my Overnight Oats!! I want to win a copy because I love to try new things and everything looks so yummy!
