Resources for Food Bloggers

Bluehost I use Bluehost to host Apple of My Eye. If you want to start monetizing your blog, you need to be self-hosted since most free blogs aren’t allowed to show ads, host giveaways, or do sponsored posts. Along with that, it gives me complete freedom to customize my theme and add any plugin I want! Bluehost is reliable and the #1 recommended hosting site by WordPress.

Tasty Food Photography– If you’ve been following my site for a while, you probably know that I FREAKIN’ LOVE this eBook. I still use it to this day and learned 90% of my food photography skills from it. The author, Lindsay, is a sweetheart and explains everything in everyday language so you don’t feel like throwing your camera at the ground in frustration. While having pretty food photos isn’t all there is to food blogging, it plays a big role in giving your blog exposure. I submit my pictures to sites like FoodGawker and Tastepotting, which drive tons of traffic to my site and lead to my recipes being discovered by The Huffington Post and BuzzFeed.

Nikon D5200 (body only)– I love this camera body and find it an affordable substitute to professional camera. It’s easy to use and makes me feel like a CBA (certified bad ass) when I carry it around.

Sigma 50mm f/1.4 Lens– This lens is my all-time favorite and the ones I use for 95% of the pictures I’ve shot in the last few months. It gives my pictures that dreamy blurry background :) .
