A Great Run & Cheap Find

Hey guys!

I hope you had a restful Sunday :).

I slept in till 9:30 this morning, which is the latest I’ve woken up since I can remember! Granted I slept pretty horribly (it was SO hot), but that’s still an accomplishment for me. I grabbed a quick breakfast of oatmeal, fruit, yogurt, and coffee and then plunged head first into work and studying.

*vomit*

After a while, I decided that I should probably stretch out a little since I’m still pretty sore from my workout on Friday. I youtubed a yoga video and it was great, I hadn’t realized what great resources you can find online!

I then put on some pump-up music to get me excited to go out for a run ;). I decided to not push myself to go as fast as I could and ended up running 3.5 miles at a semi-comfortable pace. I was pretty happy with my times seeing my “comfortable” pace is less than 20 seconds or so above my pushing pace!

IMG_2298 IMG_2299When I got back, I did this killer 5 minute ab workout from the Fitnessista! I love her blog and read it everyday :)

I read some blogs and then ate dinner. I wasn’t all too hungry so I just had some baked cod with lemon and a salad. Later on I nommed pretty hard on some cherrios and mini wheats though to make up for it!

Dinner was followed by more work work work with some breaks in between where I snagged these awesome Zella crops on eBay for less than $30! They usually sell for WAY more and I’ve been dying to get a pair in gray, so I’m a happy girl. A confession: I’m absolutely and irrationally obsessed with cute workout clothes. My inner hound dog comes out when it comes to the hunt for affordable pieces!

The new Game of Thrones episode came out tonight, so you can bet your pretty face that Kyle and I watched it over a coffee/See’s candy date! It literally was the most shocking episode ever. I still can’t get over it and all throughout the night Kyle and I have been exclaiming, “I can’t believe ______ happened! WTF!”.

After the episode Kyle helped me with some math and I studied a bit for a French test tomorrow.

It’s nice to be done for the day!

Mechanical Bulls and Apes, Oh My!

This weekend so far has been filled with lots of fun times with good friends!

On Friday night I went with some of my guy friends+Kyle to a party. It was very impromptu and I had expected to spend the night inside watching netflix! I rushed to get ready in 5 minutes and we were off. It was a TON of fun though, and I weirdly met up with a bunch of high school friends!

IMG_2253

My friend “Hot” Ryan who is insane and wakes up for 5 a.m killer crew practices every morning! He’s such a great guy and helpes me out in the weight room a lot :). More about Hot Ryan here.

IMG_2240

My friend Lexi from high school! We basically traded boyfriends when we were 16 years old. Awkward but funny story ;). We got asked if we were sisters about a million times that night. Do you see a resemblance?

It was a blast, but I sure did feel it on Saturday morning! I was absolutely exhausted. The night out AND the heavy weight lifting during Friday’s workout together made my bones feel tired. I listened to my body and didn’t do any exercise on Saturday, but still had it in me to hit up a small carnival with my friends!

That's my cowboy!

That’s my cowboy!

Mechanical bull riding is so so so hard. The key is to grip with your thighs- something that these big ol’ soccer legs are great for ;). My sombrero was huge and kept on falling down my face! Half of my ride involved me not being to see at all since my neck and head were in the hollow part of the hat.

IMG_2278 IMG_2285 IMG_2283After all the carnival fun, I knew it was time to get some work done on my study/work calendar. I spent the rest of the day (from 2-10 p.m) working and then finished the night off by watching the original Planet of the Apes with Kyle. I LOVE that movie. The special effects aren’t what they are today since it was made in 1968, but the storyline is so fantastically interesting that I didn’t mind watching it again!

By the time I went to bed at 12:45, I was too tired to move. I plan to spend my Sunday getting some rest and maybe hitting up the gym or going for a run depending on how hot it gets!

Did you do anything fun this weekend? What’s one of your favorite movies?

Paper Satisfaction and Gyming it Up!

Hello Lovelies, I hope everyone is having a great Friday. TGIF!

I finished my paper earlier than I thought last night. It ended up being around 10 pages worth of dense history analysis. In a weird way I actually enjoyed it since it was a change from all the sciences I have to take (I’m studying along a biological medical route). One of the most satisfying highs in the world must be holding a freshly printed essay that you’re happy with. Who needs drugs when you have finished essays? Yum.

Ohh baby!

Kyle also brought me some dinner from a new teriyaki restaurant so I could eat and work at the same time. What a gem. 😉

A whole lot of good up in herrrrrr

This morning after going to my history and chemistry class, I hit up the gym for a mid-day workout. I was feeling really uninspired after learning from the teacher that our class average for our chemistry midterm was a 49% (seriously?!) and was not really looking forward to moving. I told myself to just get in some cardio for a little while and if I wasn’t feeling it, I could leave. Well, about 15 minutes of getting on the treadmill I had a complete change of heart (hello endorphins!) and started jamming out to my playlist and kept singing that one line from Thrift Shop “This is f*cking awesome!!”. I ended up doing intense incline walking for 45 minutes and almost didn’t want to stop since I was enjoying it. I had to get in my strength training though.

IMG_2226

I completed the following strength training exercises:

  • Squat with Press: 3×10 with 50 lbs
  • Wide-Grip Lat Pulldown: 3×10 with 80lbs
  • Bicep Curls: 3×10 with 15 lbs
  • Dumbbell Shoulder Press: 3×10 with 15 lbs
  • Deadlifts: 3×10 with 85 lbs
  • Tricep Dips: 2×20 {bodyweight}
  • Jump Lunges: 2×30 {bodyweight}
  • Seated Row: 3×10 with 70 lbs

Since I upped a lot of my weights, I can already feel the soreness starting to come… I love it 😉

Gym Day Kyle Gym Date

Lunch was some cous cous with grilled veggies, a big ol’ hankering salad with tuna, and a burrito that I was too excited to eat so I didn’t snap a pic :(

IMG_0840 IMG_0839

After lunch, I took the most satisfying nap and then worked on a study calendar for my upcoming finals. I’m one of those anal people who need to have structure and could neverevereverinforever go into a test unprepared. (I would die.)

IMG_2229

The plan for the rest of the day is to get the work done that I have set on my calendar to do and maybe go out with some of girls to some parties.

Drowning in Sweat

Today started off with an early morning run. I wasn’t too much in the mood to go out and almost justified not working out since I have a big paper due tomorrow, but I haven’t moved in the last couple of days and I knew I would feel better after. And, as always, I didn’t regret lacing up my running shoes :).

Even though I was out decently early, it was HOT HOT HOT and I thought I was going to die for a good portion of my loop. I’m still happy with my times, though, and am looking forward to going on some cooler night runs this weekend. Hopefully I won’t drown in my own sweat like I did today 😉

IMG_2222 IMG_2221

I’m loving the Run Keeper app. It does such an awesome job with accurately tracking my runs and I’m a sucker for the stats it shows me. Oh, and it sends me the BEST emails after every jog I go on.

Too cute!

Too cute!

After my run I worked on my essay before eating a pretty standard breakfast with Kyle. Nothing like a PB and J banana.

IMG_0827

Then it was back to work until I had to leave to go to class. I love the weather now (as long as I’m not running!)

Sunny day1

I didn’t shower after running ;). Shhh.

I also had an exciting moment where I checked my Pinterest and saw that someone had repinned one of my workouts! It’s the little things, right?

The plan for the rest of the day is to finish writing a copiously long history paper and then grab some dinner with the boy friend. I can’t wait to get that bugger done!

Have a great day!

xoxo Christine
