WIAW: House Bunny, Eating Alone, and Income Report!

Oh hello, Wednesday, you snuck up on me! Actually, this whole summer has been sneaking by. I swear, I know it’s pretty typical for bloggers to do the whole “OMG HOW IS IT ALREADY [insert month], but really. August?! While I still have over two months off from my normal college classes for summer break, the weather is already starting to cool down and I feel like the Santa Barbara coast really didn’t heat up too much. I mean, I really shouldn’t be complaining with the temperature still being in the low 70s most days, but I’m not ready for the heat to be over with! Bring on the pumpkin spice lattes, though. I’m always ready for those 😯 .

Anyways, here are my eats for the day!

Breakfast:

Brown Sugar Banana Oats

Brown Sugar Banana Oats

I usually make them by cooking 3/4 cup oats on the stovetop with half a sliced banana, cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Then, I top the whole shebang with light brown sugar and occasionally some walnuts. Mhmm.

Lunch:

Just a salad from a build-your-own-salad bar on campus before my chemistry lab.

Snack:

Nuts+chocolate chips x 3

choco and nuts

OH. And how cute is this lil bun?!

My sister, Marie, goes to UCSB and lives about a 5 minute walk away from me in her own house with some of her friends. A couple of days ago, they got a house bunny and it is the cutest.thing.ever. Seriously, she weighs only one pound and fits into the palm of your hand practically. When you pick her up she just looks like a little snowball and she absolutely melts my heart.

Snack Round Two:

I was feeling pretty peckish all afternoon, so I heated up some chicken and rice soup and ate it while watching an episode of The Kardashians. My brain cells probably melted a little, but sometimes some mindless tv is the perfect way to unwind.

Dinner:

Chicken teriyaki+asian salad+miso soup+California roll

5-Ingredient Lemon Pank Shrimp. Baked and on the healthy side!Japanese SaladSushi

Today’s dinner was a little weird since it’s one of the first times that I’ve gone to a sit-down restaurant by myself. I drove back home from SB for the next few days alone since Kyle is already back in our hometown, and I grabbed some food after loading up the car on my way out of town. Granted, the restaurant wasn’t formal at all, but it still felt strange! Also, all this food was only around $10 😯 . Score.

Starbucks:

I got a vanilla latte with nonfat milk for the ride home. I always feel better with something to sip on when I drive at night to help keep me focused, especially when I’m driving alone. While I prefer caramel macchiatos more, it was a nice treat!

Annnddd there you have it! Eats for the day!

On another sidenote, I’ll be putting together my income report for July soon and was wondering if there’s anything you guys would like me to touch on! If you don’t know what I’m taking about, here’s my first income report from June that explains what they’re all about :) .

Happy Wednesday!

Haha dining alone….I’ve done that a couple of times when I haven’t been near home or overseas and it isn’t the worst- I actually found I paid attention for to my food than when with mates! I think I need to try a simple brown sugar oatmeal with walnuts- no fancy schmancy needed.

It’s funny I just had a mini-break which involved lots of eating alone in restaurants – I’ve kind of desensitised myself to it now from travelling around, but I remember telling myself years ago I would NEVER do it – like it would be the worst thing ever!

Now I totally agree with Mr Arman there – I kind of pay more attention to what I’m eating and appreciate it more – though I do miss discussing how great it is with someone 😉

over 2 months! That seems like so long, my intern at work goes back in 2 weeks. Also I totally miss the build your own salads at college. I lived on those.

  4. says

OMG I’m always ready for pumpkin lattes! Pumpkin Everything! The food looks great. As for the bunny, we had a pet bunny for like a week and gave it to someone else because they were messier than we anticipated!!! lol

I’m excited for your July report because I’d like to learn about advertising on my blog since i have done ZERO work on that aspect. Any tips you have are helpful! :)

Right?! Pumpkin errrrrrything! That’s probably my favorite part of the season haha. I’ll definitely be going over what I know about ad networks in the next report!

Omg that bunny — I can’t even handle it. We had a rabbit at some point, but he was significantly larger than the palm of my hand 😛 They’re fun pets to have, though. And I’m actually getting super excited for fall — it’s my favourite season! I’ve already noticed the days getting a little shorter, which I’ll probably be hating in a few months, but it’s making me happy for now :)

I imagine your fall is a little more eventful than mine! Lots of leaves changing colors and gorgeous scenery! I am looking forward to being able to break out cute boots and leggings, though. When does it start to get dark out for you at night?

  6. says

I would really fear losing that bunny in my own apartment! It is adorable, though! Hope you had a nice, relaxing drive! Also, when I visited UCSB this past spring, I ate at the build your own salad bar- it is delicious!

  7. says

THAT BUNNY. One of my friends at school just got a bunny and needless to say, I’ll be hanging around her often! I’ve only eaten alone at a sit down place once (on accident..). I’m still so self conscious, which is silly given in probably missing out on great places!

    • says

I have a feeling I’ll be hanging out with my sister more than usual as well haha ;). And isn’t it strange? I’m so used to having conversations while eating, so sitting quietly was bizarre!

  8. says

So, let’s talk about Starbucks. I have developed (another) unhealthy addiction: Oprah Chai Lattes. OHMYGOSH so delicious. But soooo expensive. And when the craving hits daily? Yikes. I’m sorry, wallet.

Is it bad that when I saw your title I immediately thought of the movie “House Bunny” and not an actual animal? 😉 I almost ran (with my feet!) over one yesterday actually…scary! But that one is adorable. <3

    • says

Ohhhh those sound SO good!! I’ve seen them at Starbucks, but have never tried one. I’ll make sure to switch up my order next time I go in (aka probs tomorrow haha). Hahah that’s a little joke my sister and her friends have with the whole house bunny thing. And woahh, do you have a lot in your area?

  9. says

That bunny looks so cute!! Anyway I had some questions for the July income report ! Could you talk about when did you start putting ads on your site (I am talking basics like adsense here) , and at the time you started the ads, how much traffic had you got on the site? I know it has nothing to do with your july income but, I would love to know the very beginning aspects :).

    • says

Ohhh great ideas! I will definitely include those since I think they’re some pretty common questions. Let me know if you have any other questions :).

  10. says

That is seriously the cutest bunny ever! I think I would snuggle him to death, he’s so stinkin’ cute! :) And even though I’m not ready for summer to end quite yet, I am ready for pumpkin lattes. So addicting! And I’m excited to see your July income report! I actually originally found your blog through food blogger pro, and I love the tips you put on there. I recently put some ads onto my blog, although it’s a slow process.

    • says

Isn’t he the CUTEST?! He’s so snuggly as well and loves when you pet his face and ears. Mhmmm I can tell from your blog name that pumpkin spice lattes must be right up your alley haha ;). So glad we were able to connect! I love Lindsay and Bjork, so it was exciting to see new people from their site find their way over to AOME. Let me know if you need any help with ad networks! I’m still relatively new at them as well, but I’m always here to help!

    • says

Isn’t it the cutest thing ever? And AWWW. Such a cute name! I think my sister and her friends are trying to litter box train their bunny as well, so if you have any tips that would be great!

  11. says

I’ve been dining alone all week since I’m one of the only ones back in my university hometown and I don’t mind it at all. However, I haven’t gone to a sit-down restaurant to do that. Maybe I should. That bunny is precious too! I’m looking forward to your income report. No requests for it just do your thang!

  12. Bryan says

Hi Christine! It’s your cousin Bryan. I thought the brown sugar banana oats looked delicious. It’s pretty healthy yet still sweet at the same time. A perfect breakfast. I’m going to read your blogs more often. Plus, the bunny is so cute. Marie and her friends sure are lucky. I also love seeing you take photos of your amazing cuisine. The pictures really look professional. Anyway, I can’t wait to see you again. Have fun in Hawaii.
