WIAW: New Food Finds!

Ahhh, Wednesday already? Days in the summer tend to blend together for me since the pace of everything slows down. Right now I’m back up at Santa Barbara and am just taking two summer classes: a comparative literature class and a chemistry lab. That means I finally have some free time! I was hoping to devote a good number of hours towards AOME, but I’ve been making the most of Netflix and friends instead. After such an exhausting year, vegging out is just what I need! That plus the fact that I’m basically homeless/kitchenless and crashing with Kyle until my lease starts means that recipes have been on the back burner. I’m hoping that changes soon and I get my blogging passion back. Anyways, enough of that. Here are some of my eats!  Breakfast: Breakfast was on-the-go today and picked up from Jamba Juice. You guys. Their Brown Sugar Crumble Slow-Cooked Oats are to die for. I’m already craving them for breakfast tomorrow, but getting into the habit of buying my oats when I can make it at home for 2321 times cheaper makes me feel a little guilty. A small latte was also enjoyed to help wake me up. I went with only a normal latte (not the 3 shots of espresso that I usually get) and was feeling extra drowsy in my first class. Guess I’m building up a pretty strong tolerance 😯 . image Kyle and I also got a bit peckish while doing some reading and decided to split a donut. It was a good idea.  image-1 Lunch: Lunch was also bought out and came in the form of a Subway salad in between my class and lab. My favorite part? This new beef jerky I tried. SO GOOD. The flavor is absolutely delicious and I could honestly eat it all day.  image-3image-2 image-4 Smoothie Break: After a workout with my sister and Kyle, we grabbed a smoothie to hold us over till dinner was made. If you’re ever up in the Santa Barbara area, make sure you visit Blenders and order one of their red orange smoothies. My old roommate, Lakshmi, first got me addicted and I’ve passed that addiction on to Kyle and Marie. Blenders post-workout! Dinner: Bad blogger here. I was too busy eating to remember that I should have snapped a pic before  . Kyle and I made tomato soup, grilled cheese sandwiches, and hard boiled eggs which were enjoyed while watching the first season of Orange is the New Black. I’ve seen it before, but wanted to refresh my memory before watching the new episodes. And that’s all she wrote! I’ll probably snack on some chocolate chips before heading to bed for my necessary chocolate fix, but other than that, I’m more than ready for bed. A solid day of weightlifting reeeeaaalllyy tires me out! Hope your week is going well!

Christine you look so fresh and glowy! I guess that’s what a good workout & less stress will do for you! Also Kyle has such a lovely genuine smile :)

I too know the feeling of building up coffee tolerance! It’s the price we pay for our sweet addiction :)

Hope you enjoy your Summer literature class.

I’m planning to try making a homemade tomato soup today. With our tomato garden in full force, I’ve got to figure out a way to use these tomatoes. I also need to watch the 2nd season of Orange is the New Black… just got to find some time!

Grilled cheese and tomato soup is one of my favorite meals! Great idea adding hard boiled eggs for some extra protein :)

That book in your photo looks awfully familiar! I have three of those darn Norton Anthology books sitting by my desk – I’m taking an Intro. to Humanities course that has us doing a TON of reading from those. Some have been ok, but some are horribly confusing & boring! Good luck w/yours! I also don’t envy your chem lab. The eats look good & that Subway salad actually looks yummy! I see avocado chunks… mmm. :)

Tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches are arguably the most comforting/greatest foods to eat in the whole world. And girl, you deserve expensive oats once in a while! Also, Subway salads are brilliant. My friends all make fun of me whenever I order one, but they all have food envy once we start eating. They’re SO good!

It’s rainy and gloomy here today, so a grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup on the side sounds like all sorts of perfection. As does a donut. Holy moly it’s been a while since I’d had one… if only I could find some that were allergy friendly!

Good ol’ Norton Anthology lot books. I have my fair share of those haha You deserve a much-needed break from school, so enjoy it! And that donut looks delicious (feel free to mail me one)! Tomato soup and grilled cheese is one of my favorite dinner combos :)

You’re the second blog that’s talked about grilled cheese today. I think this is a sign that I need more grilled cheese in my life. (Also a sign that I need to eat lunch because I’m starvinggg.)

You should recreate the brown sugar oats for the blog! When you feel up to it, of course. :)

I haven’t seen Orange is the New Black but everyone is talking about it so I feel like I should start watching it soon!

Ok I’ve literally had to type this comment up 1000x, so if its a repeat I’m sorry!
Anyway, look at you lookin all cute with your smoothie! I don’t have the confidence to go out of the house in those kind of shorts, but you look totally adorable.

Ooh, your workout outfit is sooo adorable!<3 Everything you ate looks so good, and I'm definitely obsessed with Subway, particularly their turkey subs. This just reminded me that I haven't had one in ages.:P
