Birthday Recap!

Hello, hello my lovely friends!

I’m just popping in with a short recap today. Kyle and I drove back up to Santa Barbara and we’ve been unpacking all day, so I’m pretty tired and just want to watch an episode of Orange is the New Black and hit the hay. The lease for my house doesn’t start for another week or so, so I’m going to be crashing with him and his three friends for a while. Hopefully I don’t drive them too crazy 😉 .

So let’s talk birthday fun!

On Thursday (my actual birthday) Kyle and I went out to a nice seafood lunch before heading over to my friend Karissa’s house for a party! It’s always fun to catch up with our oldest friends from our hometown now that everyone is separated for college. No pics because I was too busy enjoying myself!

Friday involved lots of korean BBQ with Kyle, his little brother and his girlfriend (Hi Taylor! I love you!!), and a big group of his little brother’s friends.

I’m realizing now that I’m seriously lacking on the photo evidence, but I’m guessing that’s a good sign that I had a great time!

On Saturday I went on a walk with Karissa before grabbing some tasty Mexican food for lunch. She’s off to India for the summer to teach English to underprivileged kids and, even though I’m going to miss her, I’m so proud of all the good she’s doing! After getting back from lunch, I headed over to a jewelry shop with my mom and sister to pick out a piece as a semi-belated present. This is a milestone year for women in Japanese culture, and apparently the big gift is jewelry. I’ll take it haha! We stopped at three stores before I found this gorgeous rose gold necklace with a morganite stone. I’m in love and haven’t taken it off!

While we were out, my sister and I also stumbled upon the cutest flower maxi dress with a lace bust. Usually I have trouble finding maxi dresses that fit (I’m 5″3 on a good day), but this one fits like a charm! We both ended up getting the same one so we can twin it up 😉 .

Birthday Dinner DressAfter getting back, we quickly got ready for a family dinner at a local Japanese restaurant. I only snagged a few good pictures before my camera decided to malfunction, but we had a big group and ate a ton of tasty food.

I’m not sure what’s going on with my camera here, but sparkles!!

And there ya have it! Tons of good food and family. Just the way I like it!

Question of the Day: Do you always have the same cake for your birthday, or do you switch it up?

Gawd, I miss Korean BBQ. If there’s one thing I’d break vegetarianism for, it’s that and sushi.

I have issues finding maxi dresses that fit too… they either don’t fit (1) the boobs, (2) the hips, or (3) are too long. It’s even harder finding maxi dresses that fit than it has been finding jeans that fit, and that’s definitely saying something!

Anyway, love the necklace, love the dress, and love YOU. Happy belated birthday girlfriend!

A lack of photographic evidence is definitely a sign of a good time. Glad to hear that you had such a great birthday, lovely :) I -used- to get the same DQ ice cream cake for my birthday, until one year they decided to be jerks and slap an allergy warning on it… Ever since then it’s been random cakes/cupcakes, and while they’re still good, I miss my ice cream! I need to try and recreate it… maybe.

Ahh you are so lucky you are 5’3 I am only 5′ so basically there is no maxi dress for me haha, guess at least I can embrace the short ones :) Happy belated birthday as well!

Happy belated birthday! Sounds like it was a good one :)
Love the maxi dress! I just got one from Stitch Fix that I love, but it’s a few miles too long on me, like many things, so I’m gonna need to get that baby shortened.

Happy belated birthday, beautiful!!! Birthday weekends are always the best. Also, that dress + necklace is too cute <3 My bachelorette party was Saturday night and then Christian & I had a dessert night on Sunday with both of our families and got wedding gifts from them… we got a ice blue kitchen aid! <3333333333333333333333

Your necklace is so gorgeous!! Looks like you had an awesome birthday weekend filled with fun and great food! I have the opposite problem of finding a good maxi. They’re always too short! That’s awesome you always have the same cake! I always have chocolate cake. Boxed chocolate cake with canned frosting is the best, so I can’t wait for my mom to make me my cake for my birthday this week!

    Happy late birthday lovely! <3
It sounds like you had an amazing birthday with your friends and family. I also see you had some pretty tasty eats and that dress and necklace? SO CUTE.

I always go for the red velvet cake with whipped cream frosting. It's my weakness.

You are so beautiful!! And I’m so glad that you had a fun birthday!! That is so great! And don’t feel bad for the lack of pictures… I’m glad you had fun!!

Glad to hear you had a great birthday! I love the necklace and I can definitely relate with the maxi dresses–having a hard time finding some that fit. I am 5’4″ on a good day. Haha. I don’t usually want cake for my birthday because I’m not much of a traditional cake fan. I usually go for….PIE! instead! :) I love pie.

Looks like you had a wonderful birthday Christine!

I haven’t had birthday cake for myself for a few years now (I always tell my family I don’t need one) but after seeing that ice-cream cake I’m reconsidering! The best birthday cake I ever had was a rich chocolate fudgey one for my 23rd birthday – yum!
