Hello all you beautiful people! Sorry for the lack of posting these past couple of days, my weekend was a whirlwind of activities and, coupled with being sick and upcoming midterms, I haven’t had much time to collect my thoughts and write them down in a coherent fashion.
Anyways, here’s a recap!
On Friday, Kyle and I drove back to our hometown for the Eagle Scout ceremony for Kyle’s little brother, Adam. We stopped at a local shopping center to grab some much needed coffee for Kyle and a delicious red orange smoothie for me. If you have a Blenders in the Grass near you, you really need to try it!
The drive went by relatively quickly for me since I slept for half of it, and before I knew it, we were pulling up to Kyle’s driveway. He hadn’t told his mom that we were coming up that day and she started crying when she saw him (which of course sets me off crying as well, damn hormones). One thing I really love about Kyle is how family-oriented he is and how close he is to his brother, parents, and grandma. You’ll never find a guy that does more for his friends or family without hesitation or complaining and who never asks for anything in return. He’s a saint.
The ceremony took place on Saturday and I headed over a few hours early to help set up and take some pictures. It’s hard to believe that Adam is only 15, he’s so big!
I had no idea how huge of a deal reaching Eagle Scout status is, and was shocked to learn that only 2/100 boy scouts ever achieve it. It’s equally incredible that Adam is getting his when he’s only 15 years old! Most of the time, boys don’t reach Eagle status till 17 or 18, and he was also president of his middle school, president of his freshman high school class, is the vice president of his sophomore class, and has never gotten anything less than straight As. You can bet that all of us were extremely proud of Adam’s accomplishments.
The whole shebang was pretty huge and there were over 150 people who had RSVP’d to the event.
I started tear-session numero dos when Adam suprised Kyle by giving him the mentorship award, which the new Eagle Scout gives to the person in his life that he looks up to the most and considers his biggest role model. It was such a tender moment between the two of them and I couldn’t help but sniffle!
After the ceremony was over, we feasted on delicious pulled-pork sandwiches, baked beans, salad, fruit, and cake. There were tons of leftovers, so Kyle and I were sent home with a mountain of food. No complaints there!
Overall, it was a fantastic way to spend the weekend and I feel so blessed to have been able to be a part of such a special occasion!
Other than that, my time has been spent studying like a madwoman for my upcoming Physics midterm this Thursday and a few more that aren’t till next week.
Wish me luck!

This entire post made me tear up and almost want to cry. Being a former Girl Scout for quite a few years, I know how much of an accomplishment making Eagle Scout is for Boy Scouts, so huge congrats to Adam! He and Kyle look SO much alike. And on a completely unrelated note, I hope you feel better and BEST OF LUCK on Physics! I’m so glad I’m completely done with physics…forever and ever and ever and ever.

Aww that must be so nostalgic for you! I was never a girl scout, so I had no idea how prestigious it is to reach that rank. Funny thing, when my facebook tries to recognize my pictures to tag them, it INSISTS that Adam is Kyle. Sorta annoying since I have to tell it no every time, but it makes me laugh that they must look that similar!
I’m ridiculously jealous 😉

I don’t even know his family – but the looks on their faces of pure excitement and proudness (yes i know that’s not a word) brings tears to my eyes. Congratulations, Adam! Also, good luck on your mid terms dear <3

AWWW!! This post made me smile
I don’t know much about the Boy Scouts, but based on the stats alone, it’s obvious that’s an accomplishment to be proud of. I can tell that you have a great guy there, but this just melted my heart!!!
Feel better and good luck on your exams.
xoxo Jackie

This post almost made me tear up How cute are Kyle and his brother?! And what a sweet, sweet moment for them.
Random observation – Kyle and his brother both have such incredible piercing blue (or green?) eyes…those are the eyes I always wanted haha
Good luck with studying…I’ll be right there with you with my anatomy stuff for NASM!
Christine Skari says
I completely agree. Boys don’t tend to express themselves as much, so when they do, it always feels so heartfelt!
AND GIRL. I KNOW. I complain to Kyle about how nice his eyes are ALL THE TIME. I have no idea why guys always get the prettiest eyes and I’m insanely jealous since I have poop-colored eye! Boys suck 😉
Good luck!

Congratulations to Adam! It’s SO cute he gave Kyle the mentorship award. I definitely would have teared up if one of my brother’s ever gave me something like it… except they never would because I’m younger and not the person to idolize haha!
Christine Skari says
Isn’t it?! I was bawling like a little baby haha!

Aww so sweet! That’s funny you mention that about Kyle — him doing things for others without complaining. I was reading my Bible this morning and turned to Philippians which talks about that EXACT thing. I was like “oh my gosh, I need to apply this to my life right now” because I’ve found myself complaining/speaking negatively about how much I have on my plate. I need to see these opportunities as blessings and embrace the busyness while it lasts! Glad you had a great weekend lovely <3

Ahh I can completely to relate! Kyle and I were at church the other day and the main message of the sermon was to practice as much altruism as possible and to not feel as if you need it or expect/demand it back. I haven’t ever met anyone that lives by that value more than Kyle and I’m working on getting to a state of mind similar to him! <3 you girlie!

What an achievement!! Good for him.. and so young! You’re right, he really doesn’t look 15. I was a girl guide back in the day and I loved it. I only did it for a few years but it was so much fun!
Christine Skari says
I know, right?! Crazy that he got it when he’s this young. He’s quite the stud haha! That family must have good genes!
Davida @ The Healthy Maven says
So cool! Congrats to Adam. I was a girl guide once upon a time and my uniform is somewhere up in the attic. Would be fun to find it
Good luck on the midterm!
Christine Skari says
That would be so fun to find it! I never did Girl Scouts, so I can’t really relate as much ;). Thanks love!

Aren’t they the best? Thanks love!
Leigha @ Minougirl says
Hey… he’s 15, I’m 14 😉 hahaha just kidding! But that is seriously so amazing. I know how big of an accomplishment that is! What a great family!
Christine Skari says
Hahah hmm that sounds almost a little too perfect ;).

What a beautiful moment and having family around to celebrate is always the best. I love to spend time with mine and am too happy that we see each other a lot.
