Weekend Things and “Kyle Kooks”

Hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday, mine is going a little slowly due to a late Friday night, but it was worth it for the fun!

My Friday started off with an early 8-9 a.m Biochemistry lecture, but it wasn’t too difficult waking up for class since it was my only one of the day (woohoo!). The lecture takes place in a building that’s only a 30 second bike ride from the campus gym, so I donned my workout clothes to class as to not give myself any time to talk myself out of a much-needed sweat session.

In the end, I’m glad I got myself up and going because I had a great 35 minute elliptical workout followed by leg day and left feeling energized and ready to take on the day!

I spent the rest of my morning on my computer reading blogs (I should have been reading class notes) and browsing possible recipes. At around 12:30, Kyle and I headed over to grab some lunch at one of the closer dining commons in relation to our apartments. While some young adults find it harder to eat healthy at college, I’ve always found in much easier. There are plenty of fresh and healthy options, and the salad bars are stocked with anything and everything you could possibly want in life. It’s a beautiful sight to see.

That afternoon, Tiana and I headed out to play some tennis with two foreign boys who we recently met and also live in our apartment complex. One is English and one is Irish, and I think that all girls can relate when I say accents are the CUTEST thing ever. We didn’t play too seriously and it was a blast getting to know some new friends and talk about the cultural differences they’ve been experiencing!

DSC_1374 DSC_1376 After coming back home, eating dinner, and getting ready for a fun night out, me and several other friends headed out for a night of dancing! Since we live in a college town, we can easily walk to neighboring parties and party-hop our way to a great time.

Like I mentioned before, my Saturday started off slowly and was pretty uneventful. I spent a few hours studying and reviewing notes, but the highlight of my day was curling up with Kyle to watch a movie (we re-watched Temple Grandin- such a fantastic movie) and eat Mud Pie ice cream. I love documentaries and movies based on true stories that make you think, so this film was a winner!

Tomorrow’s plans include a workout, Farmer’s Market, and studying/completing school work at Starbucks. Fun stuff!

Oh, and before I forget, I’m trying to persuade Kyle to start a mini-series of his adventures in learning how to cook. Primarily because I can then make him feed me and we could call it “Kyle Kooks”. Adorbs.

Thumbs up for the Kyle Kooks series, hehe. I am still trying to persuade Jay to let me shoot him while doing all of the workouts I’d like to illustrate …. let’s just say he’s not a fan of the idea.

By the way: girl you have gorgeous legs. So strong and beautifully tanned!

Hahah I’m lucky in the sense that Kyle tolerates me constantly talking/taking pictures of him. I would love to see some things with Jay involved, though! I always really enjoy getting to know more about the people in other blogger’s lives :D.

Aww thanks girl! Funny thing, my legs have always been the most insecure part of my body because I used to think they were too “bulky” from all the years I played competitive soccer. Now they’ve really grown on me! So thanks so much for the confidence booster, it made my day 😀

It’s been a great weekend! No worries, the studying wasn’t too intense and involved chatting with friends :). Thanks girlie! They were only $14 from Marshalls :)

Bahaha yes to a Kyle Kooks series! In addition to the fabulous name, I feel like a lot of people would be able to relate :) Also, you and Tiana are looking super cute in your tennis outfits! Love love love.

Looks like your having a good weekend! I definitely took advantage of my weekend, and was sad to see it come to an end. I’m back to work today :(

Aww! You’re boyfriend is adorable and it’s great he’s TRYING to cook. Most guys would just order you to make them a sandwich and call it a day. Good guy you have on your hands! 😉

And I swoon over accents. They make me melt inside.

Hahaha kyle kooks. I love it. Also, your mention of biochemistry brings back the WORST memories of last year when I had that class. I hope it’s going better for you than it did for me!

Hahahaha count me in as a supporter of Kyle Kooks! Also, do you have enough broccoli on your plate? 😛 Sounds like a great weekend! My Sunday will pretty much be the same, although it’s rainy here, so the trip to Starbucks may not happen and I might have to settle for the library…sigh.

I agree with you 100% on the dining commons food! I found it SO incredibly easy to eat healthy while living in the dorms, UCSB offers so MANY healthy options. I love the looks of that plate filled with green! Your plan for Sunday sounds EXACTLY like my weekend routine in college HA!

I’ve always found it easier to eat healthy at school too! No temptations from mama’s cooking too ;). ohhh man I am such a sucker for an Irish accent. I nearly had a field day when I went to Ireland a couple years ago. And “Kyle Kooks” sounds absolutely adorable. You should make it a link up and try to get other bloggers to force their boyfriends to cook! hahaha

A salad bar where you can make a salad like that on campus? Girl at my ghetto Alma mater, we had ChikFila, Burger King, Einsteins and some random a$$ stuff everywhere else. Oh, yeah, Waffle House also. :) Nasty. I never ate on campus and when I did, it was a struggle. Though, I was also FAR from healthy in college so I guess if I was conscious, I may have been able to find healthy things, LOL! :) I think he should totally do that series for you!
ALSO, you are TOO dang cute!!!!!!! Love your Nikes!
