Hey guys! I’ve had a great day so far.
I woke up at 6:30 this morning excited to run my first ever Color Run! I bought a groupon for it a while back and have been waiting for the day to come for a good while! Since it was only a 5k and my stomach is not big on eating early in the morning, I just had a whole wheat english muffin with peanut butter on one side and jelly and Norwegian cheese on the other. I had a little bit of time to catch up on blogs while I sipped on coffee and wanted to wish Miranda good luck on her half marathon! You go girl!
After a little while, Kyle came to pick me up before we both headed over to get my two cousins who were also running. It was a bit intimidating running with them, especially my youngest cousin, because they run cross country. Luckily, he had run a fast 7 miles the day before and didn’t mind going at my pace ;).
The Color Me Rad race took place at the Home Depot Center in Los Angeles and looped around the entirety of the property. About every 5 minutes, a different color was thrown at us and it was way too much fun screaming and yelling with the volunteers as they bombarded us with the colored cornstarch! I have to say, this race went by SO fast. I would definitely recommend this race to anyone as it was so casual and focused more on having a great time rather than actually racing for a time. We came out looking like this!
After our run, we stopped to get some delicious and freshly made lemonade. It was so good! Strawberry was definitely the way to go ;).
As we got into the car and tried to maneuver ourselves onto some towels, we noticed some brochures of some other races coming up! They were for muddy races with obstacles, and I feel like I caught the fever for short and fun runs. If anyone is in the LA area and would possibly like to meet up, I’d be more than game ;)!
The plan for the rest of the day is to head over to the Grandma’s house for some home cookin’ and more blog reading. I’ve asked this before, but I’m looking to expand my blog-reading horizons and would love to find some more! Let me know if you’d like me to check yours out :).
xoxo Christine

You should check mine out! 😛 (Jokes, I know you read mine already, hah.) Uhh, anyway, you look awesome with all the color and it sounds like you had a ton of fun! I still haven’t participated in any fun runs yet but I’ve been meaning to…and that picture with you and Kyle is too cute. #ramblingcomment #sorryI’mnotsorry #okayI’llstopnowreally

Ahh I’m always so jealous of everyone who does Color Me Rad! I’m dying to try one, but have no one to do it with! No friends! (Jk, no friends who run). Looks like you had a great time! Congrats!

That’s a bummer! You should drag someone along 😉

That looks so fun! That race comes through my area all the time and I have yet to do it. I totally understand about running with other people too. I definitely psych myself out if I’m running with friends who are faster than me!
Christine says
You should definitely try it out if you have the time to do one!
I find it so intimidating. I know a lot of people benefit from having a running buddy, but it’s always been more of a solitary thing for me! I don’t want to hold anyone back!

Now that’s a colourful running party :).
These Colour Runs seem to be such a lot of fun and super popular over there. It’s a pity they’re hosted for the first time over here this year and the one close to where I live is on a day I can’t participate. Maybe next year, though?! Until then I hope to also motivate some friends to join because I guess running alone would be boring.
Hope you had a great time at your Grandma’s, too.

Ugh that is SUCH a bummer! I think everything is much more fun with friends in regards to runs like the color run, you get to scream and laugh with each other and the time passed by so quickly :). Thanks girl!

I have wanted to do a color run for so long!! I need to sign myself up I do have a mud run coming up this Saturday though
Christine says
AHH I’m so jealous!! I think a mud run would be the absolute best time ever. I guess I’m 2 and going back to my mud cake makin’ days, but they sound like a blast 😉

I did the Color Run (and the Color Me Rad) last year and signed up for this year’s but ended up bailing. It was Father’s Day and my running buddy was injured Those races make for such fun pictures though!
