A Speedy Workout and Death of my Cookie Butter

Today started off with a quick 2 mile run at a little under an 8:20 pace followed by breakfast and then a speedy 35 minutes of leg weight training. I had to cut it short since I had a History lecture to go to, but I was able to get a pretty decent workout in. Usually I do full-body weight lifting sessions 3 or 4 times a week, so it felt weird concentrating solely on my lower body! A rough detailing of what I did:

  • 3×20 walking lunges with a 60lb dumbbell
  • 3×10 squat with overhead press with 55lbs dumbbell
  • 3×20 calf raises with 115 lbs (holy burn!)
  • 3×20 jump lunges
  • 3×10 deadlifts with 80 lbs dumbbell

I’ve been having trouble getting out of the door quickly enough in the morning to get some longer mileage, so I’m going to try to be better about that in the future! I feel bad for everyone who sees me on a regular basis since I basically live in workout clothes. It’s a big deal when I make the extra effort to put on some real clothing and actually have my hair down!

Class was filled with tons of notes (plus a little side of blog reading).

IMG_2083Other than that, my day has revolved around signing up for classes next year and studying for my chemistry midterm this Wednesday. Also, I tragically finished my jar of cookie butter. RIP :'(

Thou shalt be missed.

Thou shalt be missed.

What type of workout do you do when you’re in a rush?

Haha I love that you read blogs during class. It’s funny because when I went to school (thought it wasn’t THAT long ago), we didn’t bring computers to class. I wish I could have – would have made class a lot more fun :-) I do the 8 minute arms routine with a 3 mile run when I’m in a rush.

The temptation is just too real in class! You’re just one click away from some good reads and I realllllyyy have to struggle not to get distracted. That sounds so effective! I love fast past workouts that still leave you feeling sore :)

I’m killing my jar of cookie butter today. It’s so good! I don’t think I’m letting my mom buy it again though. It’s too tempting. I definitely read blogs in class last semester haha maybe that’s why I did so badly in biochem…

We should both share a moment of silence for our beloved goodies. Haha I know exactly what you mean! I have to make a conscience effort to not eat half a jar at once. Ughh anything with the name “chemistry” in it makes me want to shoot myself. 😉

Oh my goodness I live in workout clothes as well! It’s just so much more convenient…

Awh, bye bye cookie butter. :( You should make oats and put them in the jar and eat them out of it. It’s magical. :)

Haha I agree! I’m too lazy to do multiple outfit changes in one day. I would, but I literally scrape my pb and cookie butter jars clean. It would just be oats in an empty and spotless jar ;). I WILL try it soon though!

If I’m in a hurry, which is about all the time, I will do a quick 20 minute of some kind of cardio and then focus or either arms, abs, or legs with some type of quick circuit, kind of like what you have mentioned here. And you’re doing better than me because I can’t get up in the morning to do anything except drink coffee :)

I do the same thing with my cardio! 20-30 minutes is the perfect amount of time to get your heart rate up and pumpin’. Haha don’t feel too bad. I’m one of those weird people who think it’s an achievement to sleep in till 8! If I don’t get my workout in in the morning it usually doesn’t happen.

      (p.s: COFFEE!!! <3)

You definitely will be able to if you get out there and keep getting some miles under your shoes! That’s one of the nice things about running, you can always see improvement! The bad thing is you lose your endurance so quickly haha. I hate getting back into it after not running for a while. Thanks for your condolences 😉

Wow, you’re a quick runner! I tend to find it easier to go a bit slower and run further, but I think I should try sprinting and see how quickly I can do a mile without worrying about the cool down after slowing down my average time.

I find that when I’m in a rush to workout, I get into a groove and find it hard to cut too much out. The other day, I just did my weights and skipped cardio because I had softball that same night. It felt weird though.

I wish I was quicker! When I used to play soccer on a Club team I was running a sub-7 minute mile. I think I would pass out if I tried to get that number now ;). I think going a but slower but for a longer time is a great way to build endurance! I’m going to try to do that tomorrow. Try switching things up, you might be surprised on how quickly you can go! I know what you mean about getting in a groove. I have a set routine that I get antsy with if I can’t follow completely
