When it comes to food, I usually have a pretty good sense of intuitive eating. All you can eat Korean barbecue? No problem. I eat till I’m full. Free pizza? If I’m not hungry, I don’t really care to have it. But, throw in anything that involves apples and brown sugar and I’m a sucker. Zero self-control. Like, I’ll eat apple pie till I’m sick and eventually have to ask Kyle to take it away from me.
What I’m trying to say here, if you haven’t already caught my drift, is that I have the self-control of a 4 year old when it comes to any type of apple dessert.
That’s why, these single serving Skinny Salted Caramel Apple Crisps are perfect for me! Well, they’re perfect for anyone who loves gooey homemade caramel blended perfectly with soft baked apples. Then you throw on a fabulous crumble made with golden raisins, pecans, and oats and you’re set! A fantastic dessert with only 235 calories and with its own built-in control system for those days when you think it best not to devour an entire pie singlehandedly.
One recipe makes two mouthwatering crisps total, so you can use it to earn brownie (err… apple crisp) points with a significant other, or you can stop kiddin’ yourself and just inhale the second one as well. You’ll have to guess at which option I’d go with.
Honestly, these crisps have everything you could possibly want in an apple dessert and are bursting with that sweet caramel flavor that’s accentuated even more by that small pinch of salt that makes them mhhmm mhmmm good.
And they’re easy to boot! Cut up yo’ apples, pour that sweet caramel over (don’t lick the spoon, you’ll burn off the top layer of your tastebuds… not that I would know), and straddle that streusel right up in there. Also, let’s pretend I didn’t just use those two words in a sentence together.
Then you get a scoop of vanilla ice cream that melts into the ramekin and makes you swoon. Honestly, why are there Hey Girl memes when skinny salted caramel apple crisps and vanilla ice cream exist in the world? Some things in life just don’t make sense.
Ahhh, that’s better.

haha nice touch will Ryan at the end
Liz @ Carpe Diem and Run says
Wow these look incredible!!! I’m the opposite as you – I can stop with dessert as long as it isn’t cookies, but give me chips and I will just keep eating!
Christine Skari says
Ohh chips are pretty addicting too! Especially when you get one of those big party-sized ones! 😉
Erin @ The Almond Eater says
Thank you for providing me with the self control that I lack (glad I’m not the only one!). Very convenient too because I just bought small dishes like that. Otherwise, I’d probably put three servings in one dish and all it dessert for one haha ehhh it happens. Also–your photos are amazing….have I already told you that?
Christine Skari says
Haha you’re so welcome! Hahah I’m definitely guilty of “playing around” with serving sizes as well ;).
Aww thanks so much! I’ve been working on them, so I’m glad my photography is improving 😀
Miss Polkadot says
Can you tell me why I clicked on your post in my Bloglovin’ feed shortly before going to bed?! In other words: Oh.my.goodness. Caramel Apple anything wins me over right there and even better if a recipe doesn’t make too many servings as it’s usually just me eating. Keep your fingers crossed I won’t be dreaming of apple crips all night – or maybe that’s not even such a bad thing ;)?
Christine Skari says
Hahah I’m definitely guilty of late-night reading when I see something tasty as well ;). Sweet dreams 😉 (GET IT! Just made myself crack up hahah!)
Miranda @ Lovely Wife Lovely Life says
OKAY RYAN DON’T HAVE TO TELL ME TWICE <3333 But for real, these look dangerously delicious!
Autumn Wieland says

Autumn Wieland says

Kelly @ Kelly Runs for Food says
Haha straddle that streusel! This. looks. amazing. I love apple desserts and the fact that you got this sucker under 300 calories is a feat in itself!
Christine Skari says
Woohoo! I should get a medal haha ;). And yes! Straddle that streusel like there’s no tomorrow!
Natalie Staeckeler says
My mouth was watering while looking at the pictures. I am a sucker for apples. They’re my favorite fruit! I love apple pie. I love this recipe. Going to be whipping these up real soon!! Thank you for the amazing recipe.
Christine Skari says
Apples are definitely one of my favorites as well! And baked with sugar… ugh I’m drooling just thinking about it haha 😉

I wish Ryan was included in this recipe… oh well, at least I can always pull back up this post and drool

OMG these look AMAZING! Yeah, I would definitely not be sharing those!
Ksenija @ With An Open Mind says
Hehehe, I love the Hey Girl Memes and yours might just turned into my favorite. Also, can you please send me an apple crisp over? Though I might enjoy the French living, not having an oven to bake up some deliciousness is definitely not part of that!
Christine Skari says
Yes! I’ll mail a few over tonight ;). Just don’t blame me if they turn up all moldy hahah! Bummer that you don’t have an oven! Luckily you have SO many bakeries to indulge in
Amanda @ .running with spoons. says
Can you believe that I’ve never had an apple crisp? I know — it’s insanity. You’d think I’d be all over it considering how much I love apples, but for some crazy reason I always gravitate towards chocolate 😉 These might definitely pull me in the other direction, though…
Elise says
Um thank you for officially making my mouth water. These look SO delicious. I am going to be crabby all day now that I won’t be able to enjoy these. Up until recently, I’ve never been a fan of caramel either, but now it’s like one of my FAVORITE things. Caramel and apple?! Absolutely perfect. Warm, melty goodness?! Oh.drools.
Christine Skari says
Oh my gosh! Just the words caramel and apple together is enough to make me start to drool haha ;).
Emma @ Life's A Runner says
The memory of standing over apple pie leftovers at Thanksgiving seems to come to mind…this is exactly what I need for when that craving hits! Or, you know, tonight. 😉
Christine Skari says
Hahah every night and breakfast and lunch and for a snack if you’re me 😉

Hello Ryan Meow…
I’m a sucker for a sweet, decadent chocolate dessert, but I am the same way you are about an apple dessert. I don’t know what it is about a warm baked apple with cinnamon or brown sugar or cream cheese or all of the above that you just can’t beat!
Amy @ Long Drive Journey says
Oh my gosh this looks so good! It reminds me of a dessert that I used to eat while abroad in Spain. Same thing but sub caramel and ice cream for whipped cream. Sooooo good!!
Davida @ The Healthy Maven says
I feel ya on the lack of self-control with apple desserts! My current obsession is date paste in place of caramel. I have to give it a try with this!
Diana @sosmallsostrong says
Dear Stomach,
Please stop growling for this apple crisp! hahaha
Looks awesome lady. I love that it’s just enough for two.
Romantic of you! 😉
Leigha @ Minougirl says
Holy cow these look AMAZING! I’m a sucker for apple too.. in fact I just had a piece of caramel nut apple pie less than an hour ago! And your photography is absolutely perfect! You’re gonna have to give me some tips when my camera comes in

I rarely have self control when it comes to any food…including apple pie! I love any pie, especially apple. So, this dessert is just perfect for me
